Greetings, True Believers! And welcome to the next big Marvel Universe RPG. From the GM that brought you the ?007 style? series and the ?Exiles?, Dubya_Scott presents:

SECRET WARRIORS



**********:: THE STORY

The world has changed. It is not how Nick Fury remembers it.

A few years ago, Nick Fury (then Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.) made some decisions that, in the long run, would have made the world a better place. But, because of those decisions, the Avengers superhero team was disassembled.

The events that followed soon got out of hand. M-Day occurred, which caused the majority of the mutant population to lose their powers. Then, the supposedly top secret Avengers Illuminati exiled the Hulk into outer space. And by a fluke super-human accident, a portion of Connecticut was destroyed.

Over 600 people died in Connecticut that day, most of which were children. That led to the Superhuman Registration Act, which split the country?s superheroes and pitted them against each other. When this Civil War came to an end, Captain America was killed, the Hulk returned to Earth for revenge, and the entire Skrull Empire attacked the planet. And, by a strange turn of events, Norman Osborn, the former Green Goblin villain, is now running S.H.I.E.L.D. which has been renamed H.A.M.M.E.R.

While hiding all that time, Nick Fury was gathering other unknown super-humans to fight back and make the world right again. Personally hand-picked by Fury, he has formed a new team...a team he can trust...the team now called the Secret Warriors.



**********:: HOW THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED

This is a game based in the Marvel Comics universe. Some things have been altered slightly, so it?s more like an ?Alternate Universe?. But most things will remain the same as the current comic book universe. You will be playing as Nick Fury?s underground Secret Warriors. Nick Fury (played by your GM) will send you on missions to slowly regain power and make the world right again.

A vast knowledge of the Marvel Universe is NOT required. I will be giving you any information you need, and I?ll also be posting Wikipedia links if need be. For starters, if you want more in-depth info on the Marvel Comics events from the story above, please check the links I?ve provided below (or just ask me).

Along with my own story, I will be incorporating some things from the actual ?Secret Warriors? comic book (as well as any tie-in issues around the Marvel Universe). So, yeah. This is a warning that you may come across some spoilers as we play.

Appearance: An attractive, if somewhat gaunt and pale young man, Will's thin features are emphasized by his habit of wearing bulky clothing and overcoats, as well as his shoulder-length brown hair. His eyes are an unusual shade of pale grey, and he has a scruff of a goatee that juts out of his chin, but never seems to grow longer.

Short Biography: Until about his sixteenth year, William "Will" Guildenstern lived a mundane life. He was about average as a student, about average in terms of physical strength, just average. And then one morning he woke up and discovered that he suddenly understood exactly what those Middle Eastern traders who were talking business on the corner were saying. And he knew precisely how and why his calculator worked. And then he deciphered Beowulf like it was nothing. How precisely it had happened was a mystery to Will, but somehow he had gained the ability to understand and speak any language, any code, any machine. Capitalizing on his newfound talents, he traveled to London to seek his fortune, but was instead found by none other than Nick Fury.

Anything else you?d like to add: Will doesn't know it, but he's one of the handful of mutants left in the wake of Decimation, which he somehow avoided. No one is precisely sure how.

Super-Hero Name: Enigma

Power(s): Enigma is a shapeshifter with the ability to psionically shift the formation of his biological cells at will to change his appearance and thereby assume the form of other humans. He can also alter his voice to duplicate exactly that of another person and create the appearance of clothes out of his own body (for instance, if he wishes to duplicate the appearance of a man in a tuxedo, he will not only look identical to his target but also be wearing the exact same clothing). However, if he takes on the appearance of another Mutant, he does not retain their own unique capabilities.

Short Biography: All throughout his childhood, Kyle was a kid who always got along with everyone. In high school, he never limited himself to one social group, but rather hung out with them all on a relatively equal basis. He discovered his Mutant abilities at a young age. Afterward, he would often use them to his advantage, such as transforming into the local jock with the hot girlfriend to get in a quick make-out session before fifth period. Although he hangs out with many people at his school, he has a small group of close, tight-knit friends that he enjoys to be around.

Anything else you?d like to add: Kyle is a jester, often playing pranks with his friends by posing as other people while keeping his Mutant status a secret.

Age and Appearance: 106- looks like a skeleton with some rotten flesh on the left side of his face, in a tattered Business suit and fedora hat.

Short Biography: During the Prohibition, Connor was your average booze runner. He worked for the Mob like every other one, and like every dead one backed the wrong side. Anthony ?The Wolf? Balorne made sure of that. He was dumped in Lake Michigan, with cement shoes. In the year 2000, a couple accidently fished out his body from the lake. One of them was a latent mutant, and accidently brought him back to life, and in the process gave him strange ghost like powers.

Untill Nick Fury found him, he hunted down his killers families to great success. He was offered a choice when found by Fury though. Join the Thunderbolts, go to the Raft, or join his new team. Not being stupid, having heard what type of things happened to the Thunderbolts and having guessed that the Raft was a prison, Connor decided to go with the third option.

Short Biography: Ollie Marke is a mutant. His parents knew he was from birth and have tried to steer him away from his powers. However, like most teenagers, Ollie defied them and used his powers openly. He got mixed up with a mutant gang and rebelled against the Mutant Registration Act with violence. His entire gang was locked up, but his parents saved him, though he does not know that. A year ago Nick Fury discovered him breakdancing on a street corner. Street kid, with street smarts, perfect for molding.

Short Biography:

Blaire Pennington grew up in a military family. As a military family, they moved around quite a bit. For a few years, her father was stationed first in New Zeeland then in Australia before moving back to America. Coming back to America where things are so different is very odd to Blaire, different clothing styles, mannerisms, interests, everything seems strange. That is when she begins to have dreams. Her dreams often pertained to herself and on ocassion, after a night of dreaming, she would find an object from her room that had been in her dream close to her bed on the floor. Her dreams confused her and were sometimes scary. She started waking up in the early morning hours.

One night, she woke up from a violent nightmare to find a kitchen knife close to her bed. She almost stepped on it before catching the glint of the blade. She became frightened and told her brother. But her brother didn?t believe her so she showed him, calling a hair brush to her hand. Her brother?s eyes widened and he jumped up telling her to stay away from him. Ben told their parents and the parents had Blaire prove it. They said it was okay, but they seemed uncertain. At times Blaire would hear them whispering and she would catch bits and pieces of the conversation. One night, she was about to go into the living room after doing some homework and she heard her parents talking about her. They talked about not wanting to deal with her ?problem? as they called it. So she ran away.
She stole all her parents? cash, shoved some things in her book bag and took off one night, using the bus and then a taxi to get away from her family. Soon though, the money ran out and Blaire was forced to steal.

She felt bad about it at first, but it became easier after a few months. By then she had learned to use her power to steal, taking things from shelves and counters without anyone noticing she was doing it. She?d direct her hand ever so slightly towards the item she wanted and it would move towards her. She even learned to control the speed so something could come to her, stop in mid-air and then speed up and fly to her in seconds. As the days passed she became bolder. The last thing she stole got her in trouble with the cops. Two officers caught her stealing some valuables using her power. They arrested her and accused her of stealing things without touching them. Of course no one believed them, except one fellow. He made a phone call to one Nick Fury.

Real Name: Seamus (Pronounced Shay-mus) ?Shay? McCurry

Super-Hero Name: Oghma

Power(s): Creation of kinetic energy waves from his hands, ranging from a focused blast to a broad wave

Place of Birth: Dublin

Where Nick Fury found you: At the age of 22, he worked for a marketing firm. They had hired a talented linguist for work with a Japanese client. Seamus, who at this time lived alone in a two bedroom apartment, had been asked to put him up for a couple of weeks. He agreed, and that?s when he met William Guildenstern. The two became close friends over the next few years, and when Nick first found and approached William, he recommended Seamus to Fury and both were signed up.

Age: 25

Appearance: Seamus has Irish red hair, a deep copper color and cut short. He is an attractive man, though still rather unexceptional. He has a beard on his chin, cut clean and short. Average height and weight. He wears most often loose-fitting corduroys, long-sleeved shirts and a black trench coat. He is always seen, day or night, with a pair of sunglasses on his person. He also has a scar that extends from his left temple halfway down his cheek.

Short Biography: Seamus grew up in a rather normal family. When he was seven, he began training in karate. Since then, he?s trained in many forms of hand to hand combat. Seamus? father was an experimental scientist, and one day while visiting his father at the research company he worked for, a malfunction occurred and Seamus? body was exposed to high concentrations of radiation. All thought he?d be dead, but he miraculously survived, seemingly unchanged. However, his genetic makeup did change, and he soon became aware of his new abilities. Over the years, he has honed his ability and now is quite an accomplished fighter. He now works for Nick Fury.

Anything else you?d like to add: He can be slightly vain, though is generally a great guy. He is too attached to his sunglasses, and anyone touching them often does live to regret it? barely. He also has an unhealthy appetite for alcohol.

 

I see this game is attracting more attention than I had hoped. That's great news.

I will still continue to accept Character Sheets even as we're playing. I suppose I'll start the game within a few days. I just have to iron out some details before I begin.

Short Biography: Abe was born from a family of hunters. One day Abe?s parents were approached by men from the army. They asked for Abe?s mother to give birth to a child under abnormal circumstances. After the baby was born they were forced to sign contracts preventing them from telling anyone one of the incident and the baby was taken away from them into the loving arms of America?s all new super soldier program.. This baby was given bionic implants, steroids and military training since infancy. Although he was skilled at all military disciplines sniping always was his strong suit. With that in mind he was given advanced training since the age of twelve. Although he never broke down in the field, outside he was a violent person known to attack comrades if they got in his way. This eventually got him discharged from the program. Shortly after that Abe was contacted by Nice Fury and recruited to his new team.

Power(s): Weather manipulation, flight; superhuman strength, durability, stamina, and longevity. Abilities provided by sword: Speed, energy absorption, and energy projection (blades of light)

Place of Birth: Izumo region, Ancient Japan

Where Nick Fury found you: Tokyo, Japan

Age and Appearance: As Tanaka Kaito, he appears to be about 29 years of age. He is an alcoholic wanderer, wearing a worn down suit and constantly traveling the country's coasts. He carries upon his back a sheathed longsword. As Susanoo, he gains the full regalia of his Kami status. He appears to have favored the dramatics of Kabuki and the Ukyo-e paintings. His style is extravagant and his kimono depicts a stormy sea.

Short Biography: Born the third child of the kami, Izanagi-no-mikoto, Susanoo always had a deep rivalry with his sister, the sun goddess Amaterasu. Feuding off and on, one day Susanoo destroyed her fields in a fit of rage, earning himself banishment from heaven. Turning to his exile in the Izumo region of Japan, he defeated the eight headed serpent Yamata-no-Orochi and created his most prized possession from its tail: The Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. Giving the sword to Amaterasu as a peace offering, he earned the return of his honor. Recently, however, the kami Amatsu-Mikaboshi began a feud with the gods of Olympus, forcing most of the Gods of the East into hiding. Unable to identify with mortals for very long, Susanoo took on the form of the wandering traveler, Tanaka Kaito.

Anything else you?d like to add: While Japanese, the sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi is not a katana. It is actually a one handed longsword. It is also ceremonial, and absorbs energy from around it in order to provide Susanoo with two blades of light during battle.

Short Biography:

Born into a proud Afrikaner family, Bey discovered his powers at the age of six, when he subconsciously darkened his skin to fit in with the black children in his neighbourhood. As he got older, he found it easier to mix with both sides of the racial divide in his school, through basically creating two personas- one black, one white.

When he was old enough, he joined the South African National Defense Force, and became an accomplished combatant and stealth specialist, using his abilities to camouflage himself in much the same way as a chameleon. After a routine peacekeeping operation in Burundi went horribly wrong, Beyers deserted in panic, fleeing and leaving his comrades in trouble.

He managed to return home in secret, and found that he had been declared Missing In Action. Ashamed and horrified at his cowardice, Bey resolved to try and put things right, but instead found himself drinking night after night in Johannesburg bars. Which is where he was found, and recruited, by Nick Fury.

Power(s): Genius with a special gift for Reverse Engineering and robotics, her power suit has super strength, durability, and speed. The Gearhead machine, has two forms though: A car-like form that allows her to travel faster than sound, and a Hulk Buster like form that allows her to match the Thing in the Strength and Durability

Where Nick Fury found you: She found Nick Fury in Hong Kong.

Age and Appearance: 28

In suit: Much like that of the Iron Man's Hulk Buster, expect wheels on every joint, it is much more angular, and has a silver white paint scheme. Its head is also extremley square shaped

Short Biography:

The daughter of two farmers in Kenya, Maseno dreamed of achieving something better, of making something of herself. Of doing something that would make her stand out forever. Unlike most people, she was blessed with an extraordinary talent. The ability to create. From an early age, she made rudimentary devices that helped her parents when farming, doing maintenance on their home, or even dealing with injuries.
Realizing she had too much potential to be wasted, her parents saved up and sent her to go to school in America, where her talents would be recognized. Sure enough they were.

At the age of sixteen she graduated from Empire State the top of her class, and after two years at MIT she was offered jobs at Stark Enterprises and Osborn Industries. She choose Osborn Industries and thought nothing of it even when she realized the criminal nature of her employer. She was even brought into the Green Goblin?s inner circle for her loyalty, the pay was just that good.

Things changed though a year ago, when on a rampage against Spider-Man, The Green Goblin killed her parents on accident, when coming to America to visit her. Realizing that this could have been avoided entirely, had she the integrity to turn Norman Osborn in, she briefly became a recluse refusing to admit what she had accidently done.

Eventually, she decided to find a way make up for her sins somehow, and in the meantime joined Stark Enterprises. After finding out Stark had connections to SHIELD, she knew she had found her way to atone. Not able to join SHIELD on any level due her connection to Osborn, she would have to find a way to prove herself worthy to them in order to join. Using one of Stark?s contacts in SHIELD, she was told Nick Fury was trapped Hong Kong by agents of HYDRA. Realizing saving Fury might be the only too for her to prove herself and join SHIELD, to be able to stop men like Norman Osborn on any real level, she knew what she had to do. Going to her private lab, she came out with a prototype model of the GEARHEAD, a power armor designed by her, so that in the future it would allow police officers to sometimes match and usaually surpass a Super Villain's own super strength. She used the amour to break Fury out of the hidden HYDRA prison, and was informed while she couldn?t join SHEILD, she was welcome to join Fury?s Secret Warriors. She gladly signed up.

Anything else you?d like to add: The contact himself was Nick Fury, and his capture and rescue was merely a test to she if really wanted to be a hero, or an engineer with delusions of grandeur.

In the year 2000, a fledgling necromancer and an ancestor to one of killers, decided to resurrect Conner in an effort to usurp his brother as the Balrone crime family. Though he managed to bring back Hummate, he failed to strip the undead man of his will and was soon killed by the empowered Connor.

Until Nick Fury found him, he hunted down his killers families to great success. He was offered a choice when found by Fury though. Join the Thunderbolts, go to the Raft, or join his new team. Not being stupid, having heard what type of things happened to the Thunderbolts and having guessed that the Raft was a prison, Connor decided to go with the third option.

 

Real Name: Tobias Bach
Super-Hero Name: Trickster
Power(s): Tobias is a psychic, but unlike normal psychics his powers have manifested in a unique way.

Tactile Telekinesis: Tobias can create a telekinetic bubble just millimeters around his skin that grants increased strength (up to the 10 ton level) and durability against physical and energy based attacks. Though he does not have the ability to fly, his increased strength allows him to make extraordinary leaps (much like the Hulk).

Molecular Manipulation: Psychic power allows him to alter molecules of his own body in such a way that he can change his body into other shapes and/or substances. He can use this to change appearance much like Mystique, or can form his hands into iron hammers, as well as make any other modifications to his body as needed. He can also alter the molecular make-up of non-living matter, such as turning stone into water or air into chlorine gas...etc.

He cannot alter the molecules of other living beings, nor can he alter magical items or create complex technological or mechanical items.

Illusion casting and limited telepathy: Tobias can psionically cause other people to see, hear, touch, smell, and/or taste things that don't exist. Tobias also has low-level telepathic abilities, which he uses to make the illusions even more realistic.

Skills:
Skilled Marksman: Tobias is a skilled marksman, and is an expert in nonlethal weaponry. He often times uses his molecular manipulation abilities to transform the bullets he fires into other materials...both lethal and nonlethal.

Espionage: Like most other agents, Tobias is highly trained in the espionage arts.

Where Nick Fury found you: Nick found Tobias when they were both in S.H.I.E.L.D, though at the time Tobias was still a new yet promising agent.

Short Biography: Tobias didn't manifest any powers until later in his adolescent years at the age of 19, and until he was sworn in as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (at the age of 25) and finally met Nick Fury those powers went largely unused and were undeveloped.

Nick understood Tobias's potential, and immediately sought to have the boy trained. His powers developed rapidly, but were completely unlike any other with psionic powers.

During his time under Nick's watch, Tobias grew in ability both as a mutant and as an agent, eventually causing him to be erased from the records as an agent and becoming one of Nick's secret weapons. During the Skrull incident however Nick and Tobias were unable to make contact, but as only Nick could do he found Tobias again after the Wars were over and offered him a place in his new group, the Secret Warriors.

Anything else you?d like to add: Much of Tobias's past has been erased from record, and H.A.M.M.E.R. has no documentation on his ability or time spent in S.H.I.E.L.D.. In fact, besides Tobias the only person who really knows anything about him is Nick.

Age: Technically -1049, but actually 27.

Appearance: Has close cropped black hair and green eyes. His features are somewhat angular, and his physique is nondescript. He dresses like Arnold Schwarzenegger did in The Terminator as a sort of inside joke. Typically carries a futuristic hand gun and a personal hologram projector for when he travels far enough in time that his clothing choice becomes suspicious.

Short Biography: Born in a possible future in which humans have expanded outward across the solar system, Arnold discovered at a young age that he had the ability to travel through time, but not space, at will. This limited the extent to which he could travel (After all, when you go back too far in time on Mars the terraforming has a nasty habit of not being there) until he was able to travel to the Earth at the age of 23. Since then, he's partied with Kings, chided with Presidents, and even had a brief fling with a woman only days before the Sun supernova'd. Over time, he has begun to realize that not every future proceeds in exactly the same way, and thus he keeps a record of the various "alternate timelines" as he refers to them in a small diary. It was during a jaunt to Old New York that he was found by none other than Nick Fury.

Anything else you?d like to add: Arnold is actually a product of Martian genetic manipulation experiments, perfectly common in Arnold's future, gone awry. Also, because of the Marvel universe's tendency to have branching, alternate futures, he never precisely knows which one he'll end up in. Of course, he describes this as "Half the fun."

Age and Appearance: 25, a little over average height and of average build. Tanned skin, brown hair in short bob and hazel eyes. Usually wears boots, combats and tank tops. Pierced ears.

Short Biography: Isi was born to a Native American mother and English father. She has an older sister Jacy, whome she is very close to. Isi was an average student, although she had a strong interest in art and history. She discovered her ability in her early teens on a amping trip when she woke up in the form of a wolf. She freaked out, but soon came to terms with it after she gained control, although she hasn't told anybody. Isi doesn't know what she is, mutant, magic or something else. Isi currently works in a library and drives to the woods every weekend weekend to spend time as an animal, usually a deer or a bird. Has only ever used her ability against somebody once, two months ago when she was attacked by a mugger on her way home from work. He cornered her in an ally and she involuntarily turned into a tiger, mauling the mugger and leaving him for dead.

It was a long, hard-fought battle, but the Skrulls had finally been defeated. I was correct in my data about Skrulls infiltrating ever part of the planet: S.H.I.E.L.D., Avalon, the Inhumans, the Initiative, the Avengers, even the U.S. government. Over the last number of years, with my personal intel, I had traveled the globe gathering new superhuman beings to form a fresh, new team. Their first test was that final battle with the Skrulls in New York. They proved themselves worthy of my new team. It will be a privilege to lead them to victory. In time they will be the new heroes that the world can depend on...that kids can look up to. They will be the heroes that will make this world right again.

Nick Fury stood in front of his team. They had all done very well in the final battle of the Skrull invasion. He just hoped he was right in choosing these people for his team.

During his time in hiding, he learned never to trust anyone. Not the Avengers, not his own ?love interest?, not even the President of the United States. Because of those lessons, he couldn?t even bring himself to completely trust his new team. And they knew that. They know only the information they need to know. Fury knows that he himself is the only person that he can fully trust. Maybe he was just being paranoid. But he wasn?t quite ready to make that commitment...not yet. He hoped that his reputation alone would be enough for these new ?heroes? to follow him into battle. Only time will tell.

?As you all know,? he started with his gruff voice, ?Norman Osborn has control of everything S.H.I.E.L.D. had. But there were two top secret bases that only a few of us top-ranking officials knew about. And the data mainframes housed within those bases contained highly important data to which only I had access. It contains classified information that Osborn cannot be allowed to have. It?s only a matter of time before he and his lackies find those bases and get hold of that data.?

He began pacing a bit. ?I alone designed the security measures within the mainframe. So, you tech guys and mutants with computer-related abilities,? he glanced at specific team members, ?don?t even try to pry open the information. Neither StarkTech, Skrull, nor Shi?Ar technology has been able to defeat it.? He paused, wanting a somewhat dramatic effect...

?You will be split up into two teams. One base is hidden under the jungles of Central America, and the other is under the ice in Antarctica. I will be monitoring everything from the control room here. No matter what you encounter, retrieve that data at all costs and bring it back here safely. I?ll give you the devices to steal the data just before you go. Remember, we don?t have a jet, so I have to teleport you there. Kyle looked around and checked his watch. 5:30 am. He tried to stifle a yawn but couldn't help letting it escape slightly. He looked around again, and then reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out a pack of gum and opened it. He took out a piece and popped it into his mouth, wrapper and all (he always got the gum with the wrappers that dissolved in the mouth).

Conveniently, Kyle found, he was standing next to Blaire, who was probably the most attractive of the three female members in the squad. He held out the pack of gum to her.
