I was re-reading all of the summaries in Timetales between Episode I & II...
and I came across an interesting section in the summary of 'Cloak of
    Deception'.

Valorum arrives at Eriadu for the summit. At the advice of Palpatine, he
stays at the home of lieutenant governor Wilhuff Tarkin. He is informed of
the Jedi's rescue from Asmeru. Back on Coruscant, Bail Antilles is
approached by Orn Free Taa with shocking news: the tax law Valorum is
suggesting will provide revenues all right - specifically to small shipping
companies such as one on Eriadu, one owned by Valorum's family! With Cindar
in tow, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan start snooping around Karfeddion. They learn
just enough to piece together that it is all a trick to lure the Jedi away
from Eriadu. When Cindar pulls a blaster on them, the two Jedi dodge his
shots until one rebounds back and kills him. They race toward Eriadu aboard
the captured 'Hawk-Bat'. Adi meets them when they arrive, and Qui-Gon asks
Valorum to let the Jedi replace the Senate Guards as his protection. He
explains that a strike against Valorum by the Nebula Front may cause the
Republic to forsake the free trade zones, laying the groundwork for a
    separatist movement.
He asks for a delay in the summit until they can
discover the Front's full plan. Valorum refuses both requests - the Jedi
must appear impartial, and to delay now would be a sign of weakness.
Meanwhile, a furious Havac decides he does not need Cohl at all - at a
warehouse, he shoots him and his pirate crew for bungling everything, and
decides he will disrupt the summit himself...

This is very interesting considering the Confederacy of Independent Systems
and the seperatist movement in Episode II!

    Indeed.

I just read COD, and it is a highly recommended read. The web upon web of deceit Palpatine spins is utterly entertaining. Lambs to the slaughter....:)

IMHO CoD is brilliant. Not the most engaging writing style, but enough of Palpatine to keep you on your toes.

Indeed, the Republic's resultant taxation by the end of this book leads on straight into the trading parties' hostility towards the Republic as shown in 'The Approaching Storm'. Although there is no mention of the Nebula Front in TAS, I think the effects of their actions are there.

Anyway, if one reads CoD carefully enough, it is not difficult to deduce that Palpatine and Sidious are in cahoots with each other. And did anyone catch Palpatine's little mind trick? That is the funniest bit in the book.

Chapter 13, page 126, when Palpatine talks to Havac in a posh club...

    c-dude, listen :

    This is lit related.

If you avoid spoilers, then very well. If you don't, very well.

But stop bugging people when they post things where they should be posted.

Nobody forces to read the threads marked 'AotC spoilers'.

Totally irrelevent, I posted no such thing, just because I posted on this prequal message, doesn't mean Im dissing it. And Im not stupid enough to to say a admin posted thread is irrelevent to our forum.
