A non exhaustive list of nonoriginal movies we have to look forward to in 2016. I'll assume Rogue One is near the top of your 2016 list, but aside from that, what do you most want to see next year, and what do you most not want to see?

    Alice Through the Looking Glass
    Barbershop 3
    Batman v Superman
    Ben-Hur
    Bourne sequel
    Captain America 3
    Conjuring 2
    Deadpool
    Divergent 3
    Dr. Strange
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
    Friday the 13th
    Gambit
    Ghostbusters
    Ice Age 5
    Independence Day 2
    Jungle Book
    Kung Fu Panda 3
    Neighbors 2
    Now You See Me 2
    Nut Job 2
    Pete's Dragon
    Purge 3
    Ride Along 2
    Rogue One
    Star Trek 3
    Suicide Squad
    Tarzan
    TMNT2
    X-Men: Apocalpyse
    Zoolander 2

For me it's Superhero movie free in 2016. But I do hope Ghostbusters is great. Nothing else really stands out as a must see.

I think the only things on that list that I'm at all interested in seeing are Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, and the new Bourne movie.

Pretty much my list, but I would add the Bourne movie.

    Edit to add:
    Jabbadabbado

One movie I see that is missing from the 2016 list is Suicide Squad. ;)

I'm game for Pete's Dragon conditional on it still having charming, poorly dubbed songs about crippling alcoholism.

It's no Song of the South, but it'll do.

The main reason I'd see Fantastic Beasts is that my youngest loves the Harry Potter movies and will want to go. Whether he'll let me go with him is another story. He'll be a 6th grader.

I don't think it's going to be a musical. Robert Redford, Karl Urban and Bryce Dallas Howard will be in it.

For me I know I want to see:

    Doctor Strange
    Divergent 3
    X-Men: Apocalypse

^The reviews would have to be pretty bad to put me off those three films.

In the category of "have some interest in, but need to hear more to be sure":

    Star Wars: Rogue One
    Captain America 3
    Fantastic Beasts
    Superman vs. Batman
    Deadpool
    Trek 3

Casting decisions do not necessarily a musical decide these days.

That said, if they cut the song making comedic light of child abuse, I'm out. Really, what would even be the point?

I like Singer's X-Men so I'll see Apocalypse in theaters. Probably nothing else on that list. I'm so much cooler than most people.

    1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Even though I did not find Man of Steel a particularly a good film, this is my most anticipated film of 2016 because it will be the first of many things. It will be the first time we get the cinematic version of Wonder Woman and perhaps Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman and others. Plus it will be the first time Batman and Superman are on the big screen together.

    2. Captain America: Civil War: This is basically Avengers 2.5 will perhaps Spider-Man and the first appearance of Black Panther.

    3. Rogue One - Kind of unsure about this film even though I attending the panel at this year's Star Wars Celebration. It might be the first Star Wars film without a Jedi. However, some have speculated that Darth Vader could be in the film.

    4. X-Men Apocalypse - The return of the A-list X-Men with Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm with (assumed) Wolverine and the other characters from First Class. This, from what I've been hearing, will be the last film of this thread.

    5. Suicide Squad - All the leaked pics and video has me intrigued.

    6. Deadpool - There was such a push for this film to be made by Ryan Reynolds and others that worked on the project, that I feel they really took care and pride into making this film and it be reflected in the film.

    7. Dr. Strange - Another aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be unveiled.

The rest of the films below have about the same level of anticipation, in that, I plan to see them but no real excitement.

    Bourne sequel
    Divergent 3
    Gambit
    Ghostbusters
    Independence Day 2
    Star Trek 3
    TMNT2

    Will rent:

    Doctor Strange
    Deadpool
    and maybe X-Men Apocalypse.

Captain America Civil War MIGHT get me into the theater depending on how much Bucky and how little Mark Millar survives the storyline. That said, I might wait to rent that too.

I'll see about Star Wars Rogue One, right now that's the most interesting film to me of the sequels/etc. etc.

Heston's Ben Hur was a remake too, chariot race and all.

Yeah, but William Wyler's Ben Hur won 11 Oscars, is regarded as an iconic Charlton Heston movie and is considered to be one of the ten or twenty greatest movies ever made. There are films that just shouldn't be touched and Wyler's Ben Hur is one of them.

Well, they might actually go the "we stayed closer to the Wallace source material than Wyler's version" justification route.

    I mean, remember this?

    or this:

I agree Wyler's Ben Hur is rightly regarded as the definitive telling of the story. But, I don't think one more adaptation is going to change that.
