JCC Sequels you embarrassingly enjoy more than the original.

Weird that you mention Psycho as my contribution to this thread is Psycho 2. I appreciate the pioneering aspect of the original, but I find the 2nd one scarier and better to watch.

    I agree with TLC though

I think the levity is absolutely necessary for Henry's reverence for the Grail to be effective and then to pay off with "Indiana... let it go," which makes it dusty in my house...

Not the whole film, but I much prefer 1981's Halloween II main theme over the '78 original.

Didn't know retail movies existed on SVHS. I thought you could only get blank SVHS tapes for home use. You just won the 90s.

    Edit:
Oh, and I like Spiderman 2 a lot more than the first one.

For my pick, Nightmare on Elm Street II. I just saw the first one last year and found it really bland and uninteresting. Freddy has a little more personality in the second one. Plus, the second one just has a totally weird, creepy homoerotic vibe to a lot of it. Like the coach's death . . . I mean, that's just . . well, it brings up some weird subtextual things that are going on in that high school. Plus, exploding bird!

And I totally agree with Rach on TLC. The humor is great, but I feel that the Jr./Sr. relationship really has a lot of serious emotion to it and it's actually that serious emotional relationship that I feel elevates the film above Raiders and ToD (and Crystal Skull, but do we really need to say that a film is better than Crystal Skull?). I love their scene on the motorcycle; it's totally surprising and really took me aback as a kid watching it. I wasn't expecting anything like Connery's slap out of this movie, but it feels really painful.

I agree with her about that, for slightly different reasons (I never had a S-VHS player :p ).

Have you read the Crystal Skull novelization? Indy actually gets a glimpse of the Ark in its crate. I wish they'd put that in the movie.

Uh, I haven't read the novelization and I've only seen the terrible movie once, but the Ark is in the movie. I don't think Indy actually notices it, but it's there.

You should be embarrassed, it's legitimately terrible.

    Well played, sir.

It's required viewing every Christmas at my parents' house.

For my part: Aliens. Mainly because the marines get all the good lines--

Hudson: Hey, Vasquez -- have you ever been mistaken for a man?
    Vasquez: No. Have you?

Apone: All right sweethearts, what're you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps. Day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a BANQUET! Every paycheck a FORTUNE! Every formation a PARADE! I LOVE the CORPS!
Hudson: (Holding his ears): Jesus Christ. God, this floor is freezing.
Apone: Whaddya want me to do? Fetch your slippers for you?
Hudson: Gee, would you, sir? I'd like that.

Drake: They ain't payin' us enough for this, man.
Dietrich: Not enough to have to wake up to your face, Drake.
Drake: What? Is that a joke?
    Dietrich: I wish it were.
Drake: Hey, Hicks -- man, you look just like I feel.
