Has anyone here seen or is going to see Serenity?


I looking at going but hate going to the pictures on my own (the missus isn't a great SciFi fan) as I've been watching Firefly on SciFi this weekend and thinks it's rather good.


If anyone is in the Manchester area and fancies going to watch it at the Printworks can you post on here.

We could potentially make it a meet, Watch the movie and go for a couple of drinks afterwards.

Could I watch this film having never seen Firefly?

 

I think its been done so if you've never seen it, it will still make sense

 

Is the film a prequel or sequel to the series? Just how good was Firefly?
And do you think that this whole project will carry on beyond the film, or just vanish away?

I am in Manchester on Thursday 20th Oct, but I'll be at a meeting around 6-7pm. Not sure about last trains back to Southport (either 9 or 10pm I think), so even if you kept a meet till then, I don't think I could make it.

 

The series itself has been cancelled and I belive the movie is a prequel.


Sometimes however if a movie gets enough attention they sometimes revive the series and as it's a Joss Whedon project there may possibly be life in Firefly yet. (I'm not holding my breath but you can but hope).

Ah, but I know it won't be. Nothing from the pen of Joss Whedon is crap (except Alien 4, but the script was sound).

They weren't perect, but then, neither were the Originals....

 

I've been watching Firefly for the first time on Sci-fi this weekend - good stuff.

Oh, and Serenity is a sequel, i.e. it takes place AFTER the events in the TV show. Joss Whedon has stated that the film has been made in such a way that it will make sense to people who've never seen the show, but that there will be stuff that can be spotted by people who know the show well.

For those of you who haven't seen the show, I highly recommend it.

Trailer didn't look bad, more exciting than the episode I tried. Could be a danger of the trailer showing all the best bits though.

Unlikely that I'll make any effort to go see it.
