    Well I was in a deep blue funk all day, but that round of Serious Business burned the blues away.

    Everyone brought their A-Game tonight, and while it petered off at the end, for most of the night we steamrolled our opposition, crushing everything in our path.

    I managed to hit some Moment of Zen, where every shot hit it's mark, every turn was the right direction and nothing touched me. Pity it couldn't last. Having my Medic Buddy certainly contributed though.

    So thanks guys, that was exactly what I needed tonight. I suggest that we set something up for the upcoming public holiday on Wednesday as we might all be free.

    Be seeing you,

    Magnus Darcrider

    You were rocking with that flamethrower, Magnus. Hats off to ya.

    I'm not going to be around Wednesday night. I might be able to pop on for an hour or so at 9-ish, but yeah, I'm going to have to let you guys have all the fun without me. But based on a discussion with Sammich earlier this evening, I think it's time to start planning our next outings in the realms of Serious Business Live... Expect to see a thread bumped to discuss that any second now.

    OH GOD HEAVY UPDATE IS COMING

    and apparently, it's going to be bigger than the pyro update. 3 new weapons, 25 achievements, 1 new game type with 5 maps for it, 1 new Goldrush map and CP_STEEL (which is far and away my favorite community made map)

    and it looks like it's coming out next week [face_dancing]

    First Heavy Unlockable - The KILLING GLOVES OF BOXING or KGB

    "Any time a Heavy kills an enemy with the K.G.B he receives five seconds of guaranteed critical hits."

    Niice. Below that are the titles and artwork of the new achievements, and by looking at the file names it looks like the shotgun upgrade is going to be a SANDWICH.

    A SANDWICH THAT ASSISTS IN MURDER.

    MY FAVORITE CLASS GETS A MURDER SANDWICH.

    The Capitalist in me abhors many of those achievement names.

    The Communist in me is containing his joy due to Party Stoicism.

    Good to see there's more than 1 Heavy/Medic achievement..some of them I'm expecting to be as hard to earn 'naturally' as Pyro's.

    BBN, Darcrider and I got stomped on tonight. The fact that I was incredibly laggy didn't help either.

    Same time, Monday then? :p

    Serious Business Monday - The Man With The Golden MiniGun

    (I'm slowly starting to run out of ideas for titles. Once i've used up all the bond films, i'm passing on the naming rights :p )

    Yes, we got stomped. Obviously I need to play TF2 sober. At least I got to use that warcry :p

    Ah, that's easy. We go for Westerns. For example:

    A Fistful of Bullets, For a Few Bullets More, The Heavy, The Spy, and the Pyro, The Magnificent Businessmen, etc.

    We could then use cheesy action films. I have the one title that'll sell you right on it: Dirty Heavy :p

    Be seeing you,

    Magnus Darcrider

    Serious Business Monday - The Man With The Golden MiniGun was a huge success. I think for most of the time, we were all on the same team. We stomped on the opposition for most of the night and we were called team stackers, and exploiters. Possible exception would be 2fort where on the other team there were about 8 engineers, 3 snipers and no intention to get our intel. Last night I came *this* close to a heavy and soldier record. Especially on Dustbowl I was getting critical hits all over the place and on Dustbowl i snuck up on 3 snipers, and punched them all out with one hit each.

    Picture dump time :D

    Pyro Jetpack UNLOCKED

    We make good team

    BBN getting owned by a spy

    and a pyro

    NEXT MONDAY
    Serious Business Monday - CP_WELL is not enough

    Awesome screenies, Sammich. I love that last one of me faceplanting the camera. :p I've got a few good shots to upload and post from the last few weeks of Serious Business, and I'll do that when I get home tonight.

    Last night rawked. QldFF people and their mutual friends made up almost our entire team, and we all collectively got the Friends Like These achievement, which brought up a huge cheer. That was probably my favourite moment. That and our awesome comeback on Granary, pushing back from defending the final point straight through to victory. I really love playing with you guys. Really, really fun.

    We did well. The most fun I had was sniping Scouts out of mid-air while BBN gave colour commentary on 2Fort :p

    I had another go today, and I apparently borrowed Dr. Neutron's lab coat and proton pack; excuse me while I gloat:

    [image=http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b241/Darcrider/Team%20Fortress%202/cp_dustbowl0001.jpg]

    That round earned me three of the medic achievements, plus the first medic upgrade [face_dancing]

    I'll be working.
    But in some other free time, I'll be working on my Pyro Unlocks. I like having a crack at these things in my own time - hopefully I'll have some fun against these Heavies about to land. This said, I'll have a shot at scoring my boxing, pharma, and specialist Medic ones with the plethora of Heavies about...

    [edit:]
    I am unsure about this "Arena Mode", mostly sudden-deathy (ie spy-o-licious), but woah, doesn't that "Alps" (Lumberyard) style look purrrdy! The desert has it's own TF2 rustic charm, but thess grassy/rocky textures are nice.

    Hey, nice! :D High five, Herr Doktor.

    while BBN gave colour commentary on 2Fort

    "Mister Skittles, you need to whack him" is a phrase that's going to stay with me till the day I die. :p

    I'm just going through my screenies and resizing them for upload. Will do so shortly.

    Refer to MS's Heavy pages above for the full story I mentioned above, but here's a pic:

    Private Skittles, that's right. Makes it even worse. :p

    Yes, Lumber Yard looks very pretty. Not sure how this Arena mode is going to play out; the whole Sudden Death thing makes it sound a little too Counter-Strike for my liking, and I always much preferred TF2's very objective-based gameplay, but we'll see how it goes, eh?

    Anyway, time for screenies:

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/01.jpg]
    Kicking off with this one, because it just looks so god-damn cool.

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/02.jpg]
    This is Sammich avenging me by killing the spy that was making my life hell. I found it an extremely satisfying image. :p

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/03.jpg]
    This one takes a little explaining: this scout killed me, then fled and tried to hide from Sammich. Sammich found him. :D

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/04.jpg]
    This one just looks cool. Reminds me of the scene in Terminator 2 when Arnie tries "his way" of opening a locked door.

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/05.jpg]
    Another one that just looks totally bad-ass. I like the haze of the smoke.

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/06.jpg]
    I can't recall if this was Sammich or someone else, but it sure looks like him.

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/07.jpg]
    "So it looks like I'm gonna have to juuuuummmp...!"

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/08.jpg]
    The Duel.

    [image=http://members.optusnet.com.au/~tjm24783/tf2/new/09.jpg]
    "Where are your precious papers now?!"

    Man, it's just such a beautiful looking game. I love taking screenshots like these.

    Very pretty pics, I like the Pyro, MS revenge on Scout, and Demo action pose.

    I too fear the CS-ey nature we may see in Arena, but I have a glimmer of hope in that not all Arenas are one-life-only maps.

    Update said:
    "The round ends once one team has no players left in the arena, or when the central capture point has unlocked and been captured."

    I am a little iffy on arena mode, but above all I trust valve. This is what they do. By the looks of it the round time should be pretty quick, which should be good to play on between longer maps like 2fort. Should be about 5 hours until it's out. Luckily, I have the day tomorrow. Eeeeeeeeee. I'll try and get all of the unlocks but I'll wait till the LAN party for the best of the achievements.
