My machine is so old, it sewed my mom's maternity clothes! If it could talk, it would say, "speak up, honey, can't heah ya!" (It would have a very strong Baws-tahn accent, of course)

I'll bring it; it's good for beginners, when the tension isn't wonky.

Can someone PM me directions to where we're meeting? And what time?

I believe Wendy will be getting the info together soon, once she is settled in and what not. :)

Settled in!?! It will be a long time before every last box is unpacked, but I'll do my best in time for this class. ;)

Directions, PM Mutt and he'll send them to you.

Time!?! What about 2pm, is that ok for everyone?

I've been so busy moving I haven't had much time to think about what to show everyone. So I ask everyone to post what they would like to learn and keep in mind this is a beginners class, no advanced stuff. Gotta keep my sanity somehow. :D

BTW did I read that someone has Indian Homespun!?! Where did you get it because I need some ASAP. :)

    Here's some ideas -
    how to read a pattern
    how to take your measurements
    supplies for basic sewing
basically how to work a sewing machine
how to make something really basic so people understand just the basic skills (like, a pillow or something)

And, hey, I still don't have everything unpacked and I moved the week before DragonCon..

I was thinking about showing how to make a pillow, so those who want to make a pillow bring the following:

    Fabric
    Stuffing
    Matching thread

These will be super easy square pillows, so your pillow size will be determined by the amount of fabric you bring along. If going for a certain size, please add one inch to the measurements so when finished you get the size pillow you want.

These suggestions sound good so far.

Ok this is coming up quickly so if you haven't PM Jeff/Mutt yet, please do so ASAP. If you are bringing a sewing machine, please pm me with the make of the machine so I know.

Anyone who wants to make a pillow, there is a supply list in a earlier post.

    :D

Okay, i have a headcount of 8 people attending this event this weekend.

If you haven't PMed me yet and are planning to attend this exciting event, please PM me ASAP. Wendy needs a final headcount so that she can prepare whatever handouts/materials she needs.

I guess that would make sense. But I think you'd really benefit from learning how to sew, Miss I Want to Make All Sorts of Leia Costumes. :)

An excellent intro by Maleficant, and a hearty THANK YOU for hosting!

I've offered to host Episode II sometime in July: Patterns and Measurements. My time is pretty free for July, but some folks are going to Shore Leave, etc.

So as soon as there is a consensus, let me know.

Much thanks to Wendy for heading up our sewing edumacation! Also thanks to Jeff and Wendy for hosting. :D Much was learned and much fun was had.

And after the post-meeting meeting at the Shell station, I found Kit Kat Dark candy bars!

Much thanks indeed!! With our costume experts leading us, we'll look fabulous! And we sure have enough good (some may say sick and twisted) ideas to keep us busy for years.

Unorganized!?!? You had info packets and sewing machines and everything. I thought we were just going to learn a few stitches, but this was pretty useful. :D
