I should think thermo-nukes would be fine as long as the nasty business of radiation sickness, cancer, etc. doesn't get too much detail. After all we see a whole planet blown up in ANH and that's a G rating So millions of deaths in themselves do not a TOS-infraction make . . .

 

And yet having two characters of the same sex kissing is?

 

Weird that.

 

Not to be picky, but I'm pretty sure that ANH (and all Star Wars movies except ROTS) is PG.

The no same-sex relationships rule was made by the owners of the sight. Fanfic tried to get it revoked and couldn't. Since these contests are going by the same rules as fanfic, it can't be written here, either.

Okay now I'm confused...

i'm stuck on my idea. It has a big gapping hole in the middle. I have no clue what happens. The story's good otherwise, but I can't make myself get back on it...


Now however I'm getting another idea. What to do... what to do...

 

So what's everyone cooking up?

I may even chuck in an entry for judging (but not to win) and I've not even bothered looking into it yet.

Oh, Nem, don't panic. I should be panicking, well not yet. At least I've decided I'll probably go with my second idea. I think it fits the prompt even better than the other one did.

 

Realistic. It's the aftermath of a hurricane.

 

We're past the mid point now and I hope all the writers are getting some good stuff down.

Well, it probably won't be very good because I've hardly begun, but I promise I will contribute whether it sucks or not...

 

And now I'm on idea three I still think I like my second idea best, but idea 1, doesn't fit well with one area of the prompt, idea 2 doesn't fit well with another. I being my usual picky self...

At least my third idea seems (I hope) to fit all areas of the prompt, and luckily it seems like it'll be the shortest of them, which is just what I need at the moment.

I have my judges as well now so I look forwards to seeing the completed entries.

 

I'm trying my best (or maybe I'm trying to try to do my best, if that makes any sense) so I hope it's decent. I hate trying to work around writer's block...

 

Is there any way that the deadline could get a three or four day extension?

 

The deadline is tomorrow I'm afraid.

Everyone has had a good month to write something. I have all my judges now so I'm just waiting on manuscripts so I can send them out.

Start thinking about this but I don't want any ideas yet.




Provided I recieve enough entries to allow us to move onto competition 4 (which I'd love to do) I want a discussion on possible prompt ideas.


Ideas to think about.




1. Did we like the prompt in stages used this time? If not why not (was it too restrictive etc... and why)

2. Do we like single idea prompts?

3. Do we like the idea of a prompt where you have free reign as to your tale but your opening sentence is set for you?

4. Do you like the idea of a completely random, surreal prompt?


Think about these things over the next week or so and we'll discuss them while the judges do their thing.

The ultimate idea is that we will discuss prompt ideas for future stories.


I'd like to get the next competition running for September as well and I'm thinking of a short mini hit story where you get two weeks to write a short story, what do we think of that idea?


I'd also like your views on a competition where the entrants chose to write a chapter in a longer tale, Maximum word count but where the story arc is planned, so the protagonists have a defined route (how they get there is up to you) this is to give us an example of how hard the NJO was to plan and excecute.
I think this could be a very hard one to implement though but I'd like your views on the idea.


Hold them all off for now though until the judges start judging.
