Last year I was involved with a Firefly/ Serenity fantable. If I didn't have that I would have almost nothing to do.

The talks with Adam Baldwin and Kenny Baker were late Friday. The talks were in rooms that were too small. Adam was looking into trying to schedule a second talk for Sunday but couldn't manage it. We are thinking there was no profit for SFX so they didn't do it.

It took forever to get my ticket and forever to go upstairs to the dealers area.

If you were into autographs and had loads of cash then SFX is for you. I am not big into the autographs so not much there for me.

The vendors area had a lot of stuff but then again I was not looking to buy anything. No panels so besides the few talks there is nothing for me. I could have just walked into the foyer and hung out there and saw everything I wanted. I could then have gone to dinner with my friends and still had a great time without buying a show ticket. (which is what I did 2 years ago)

Without the fan table I would not be there. If Kenny Baker was not there I would not have brought R2.

I had a good time at SFX last year. I went to the guest talks for JMS - creator of Babylon 5, Matthew Wood (voice of General Grievous), Linda Park (Hoshi Sato on Enterprise), and Kevin Sorbo. All the talks were excellent, although the room for JMS was too small. Between those, I trooped around with my friends and socialized, bought a couple of autographs, did a bit of shopping in the Vendor Room, and later went out for supper with friends. I went all 3 days and felt it was worthwhile. I like T-Trek better as far as conventions go, but T-Trek is a very different kind of event. I enjoy both, but appreciate each on its own merits.

We're planning for the Fan Expo (as it's been renamed) for 2006 and not Dragon*Con as we did that this year and we'll probably be doing it in 2007. For some reason, even though I've gone to this con since 1999, I didn't get a postcard (yet?). Could someone PM me the details or email a picture of what the postcard looks like?

    Doc_Bev,

What kinds of things did you have in mind? And this planning is for TT, SFX or FC?

By planning I meant planning to attend Fan Expo (the con formerly known as CNSFX) in August 2006. At least my husband (-KnightShade-) and I are, I think most of the rest of the con goers in our FF might be heading to D*Con instead, but there might be a couple more coming with us.

I don't know that we'll be able to do too much costuming though as we're usually always running around from one talk to another or waiting in autograph or sketch lines. Plus this time we'll have a 3 year old and a 2 month old with us.

We won't be attending Toronto Trek this year and I'm not sure what FC is?

Well, I've never been to a con, except for that breakfast for SFX. It was kinda neat to see the people dressed up in the lobby, but as I have no money, or time off, I highly doubt I'll be at any next year either.

You forgot to mention EXPENSIVE! I'm sure their autographs won't be cheap!

It would be kinds cool to have a couple of the 501st escort them to their signing...kinda like the AFI salutes GL thing. That would be great [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

Theresa and I are going. Yes, it'll be expensive, but it's something special for the 40th anniversary of Trek.

I'm pretty sure that you can get a personalized Nimoy and Shatner autograph as well as a photo with you and the two of them, a pin, lecture passes, etc. for $340.00

i am not sure if u are kidding re the price and not saying i would/could pay it but considering 2 people at last years expo seperately charged more than that plus also who knows if u will ever see the 2 of them do a show together again plus considering nimoy hardly does anymore shows.

yes I am 501st. my number is ID2518. right now my costume is an imperial officer. In the process of making a royal guard.. and for 'non cannon' events, a crimson guard. Hopefully my costume will be complete soon. Money issues put it on hold for a LONG time. lol

Darn, I can't go this year. I should have booked it off from work WAY in advance. :(

Hopefully I'll be able to make it to dinner when you all go! :)
