Heart of Darkness is a english novel from the start of the century-a classical, whose basic idea was used for a certain movie, as legendary as Starwars...

The storyline of Heart of Darkness : an indivudal named KURTZ had turn mad in the middle of Africa...The commercial company employing him send an agent, MARLOW, recuperate him. Marlow realize in Africa that Kurtz is insane, corrupted by the darkness of the jungle, which is not a place for humans. He is using natives to repel Europeans.
(Heart of Darkness is the basis of APOCALYPSE NOW)

It's look a LOT like Shatterpoint main idea, no ?

I thought that too. I have never read Heart of Darkness but I have seen Apocalypse Now. I remember reading Shatterpoint and making the comparisons.

I've read Heart of Darkness twice and I just picked it up from the library yesterday for another read. I don't really get the connections. There are more differences than there are similarities. That holds for both Apocalypse Now and Shatterpoint.

    This is easy:
The Heart of Darkness inspired Apocalypse Now
    Apocalypse Now inspired Shatterpoint
    There ya go.

Yeah Stover has clearly stated that Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness were highly influential.

I actually met him once and told him that Shatterpoint was so good that it inspired me to re-read Heart of Darkness. He was so happy to hear that and gave me a big "Thank you!"
