    It's barely noticeable in the film so I don't really have a problem with it.

    If he was part of the background or just a bystander, I wouldn't have too much of a problem with it; like an easter egg for the viewer to find. But I wouldn't want him to have a speaking role or have the camera purposely focus on him.

    Having Shatner in E7 would be like Richard Pryor in Superman III - he's too recognizable, not even for Kirk anymore, just as Bill Shatner, a celebrity who's everywhere all the time promoting himself. It would be totally distracting.
