cdgodin popping in... have not seen The Simpsons. Also, from time-to-time I might post as Darth_Vemonis. I use different accounts for different browsers (don't ask), so FYI.
What!?! How can you not have seen the Simpsons!?! I'm trying to get a clean sweep here!! Shame on you! Wait- uh, I mean... shame on both of us.
i don't understand how someone couldn't have seen an episode of The Simpsons, besides the fact they now deem it to be a badge of honour of sorts. surely you'd want to watch just one episode out of sheer curiousity?! also how could you have not sat through an episode in a random living room at any point in the last 20 years??!? yeah, I've seen an episode or two
Haha, I know, I hardly believe it myself. I've seen previews for the tv show, I've seen the preview for the movie that came out a few years back, I know who Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Flanders, Mr. Burns, Fry, etc... all are, I know about "D'oh!", I know Homer loves donuts (I even had that ridiculous donut curl Homer shirt, but I lost it), but somehow, someway, I have never actually sat down and watched the tv show. What does that say about the Simpsons' level of cultural saturation?
I just can't get past the mustard yellow skin color and ridiculous voices. Never saw it growing up because my parents didn't like it.
Wait, how would you know the voices are ridiculous if you've only seen, and I quote, "one brief clip"?
As Coruscant said, the Simpsons has an incredible level of cultural saturation. It's nearly as old as I am; I've seen advertisements on Fox over the years, as well as the movie trailer. Other than that, I saw a clip in HS (something to do with Hamlet), but never a full episode.
It's possible to have never seen a full episode (@harupah's requirement for the game), but it's nearly impossible to have never seen anything Simpsons related with how entrenched they are in pop culture.
I own the first five seasons of the Simpsons on DVD, so yeah, I've seen it. Haven't watched it since about season 7, but I've seen it.
I can understand not liking football. I can understand finding Seinfeld too annoying by the first commercial break. I cannot not understand someone not being in a coma for the last twenty years and not watching at least one episode of The Simpsons. I'm pretty sure that there are no more bushmen because they wanted to see Bart and Homer's antics.
