I think it's worth a read. I would say I didn't find it to be so cloyingly and obviously a parallel for Christianity as to be unreadable, but then, I read the series when I was a dumb kid. Now I am an adult, of course, but equally dumb.

For some reason, I could never really get into Horse and His Boy. Nor could I get very far into Prince Caspian. Those two just didn't really engage me, I guess.

I'm with you there - The Horse and His Boy killed my interest in the series. I was reading them in the chronological (rather than release) order, and it was just this ludicrous brick wall for a third book. Didn't want anything to do with it after that.

Chronological order here, too. As a kid, I didn't know there was any other order; that's just how the books were sold at the time. I did get around to reading Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the rest. They were all very good, although I seem to remember my interest flagging a bit with The Last Battle.

I like how Disney skipped from Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe straight to Prince Caspian, as if taking one look at Horse and His Boy and being like, "Um, yeah, no thanks."

I have not read The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Seuss. One of my parents hated Seuss books and as such there were none of them in my childhood.

[face_not_talking][face_not_talking][face_shame_on_you] No excuse. Most pre - schools/elementary schools/primary schools would have had those books. Hell, most teachers would have read them in kindergarten!

Shame, shame. Yes I've read the Cat in the Hat.

Edit: Lord Vivec in your icon is that the Borg Queen with green tentacles coming out of her head and shooting fire out of her mouth?

    . . .

Seriously? I mean, most people read them in kindergarten. I know my son read Dr. Seuss in kindergarten (and at home), as did I.

If I borrowed books from my gf, I think I'd be able to.

On current one: I had a childhood

I've read the Cat in the Hat
And the sequel in which he struck back
Although compared to the first it did very lack
But have you hid your head in a sack?
Actual that last comment was quite cruel
So I forget I said that, the last sentence outrule
But since you're an adult you should read it now
You can read it to a dog, cat, pig, or cow
Or with a goat on a boat in an overcoat

I have read every Dr. Suess book. I only read like 2 as a kid, but as a dad, I've read them all and all with cartoonish voices to the amusement of my son. *happy sigh*

I should arrange another reading for old time's sake. Thanks for this pick, Cor!

I've read it. I loved the Dr. Seuss books as a kid, especially Green Eggs and Ham, but Cat in the Hat was great too.

I have read Cat in the Hat and multiple other Seuss books, to myself, my children and children who come to the library.

I've even read The Bippolo Seed, a collection of lost Seuss stories just released a year ago.

Wow, really Cor? That is one of the saddest things I've ever heard.

I have read Cat in the Hat and probably every other Dr Suess there is and read them to my children as well.
