I'll be fascinated to see how Scott's Moriarty holds up to greater exposure.

I need series 3. Not in 2 years. Not in a year. I need series 3 now.

    That was JUST STUNNING.

    STUNNING.

I'm in awe of that production.

    Loved the court room scene.

And I believe the classical music was the overture to Rossini's The Thieving Magpie. Which is apt.

Very very good episode. Looking forward to the theories explaining the end. I blame Molly.

    I don't blame you. :p

And to think that was from the same person who gave us The Blind Banker and The Curse of the Black Spot. Where on Earth was he hiding this? It was fantastic, and has left me salivating for more!

Blind Banker is a LOT better on repeated viewings

So here's my order of Sherlock episodes from best to worst (worst being, of course, amazing anyway):

    (I've been strict. No ties)

    1. The Reichenbach Fall
    2. The Great Game
    3. A Study in Pink
    4. The Hound of Baskerville
    4. A Scandal In Belgravia
    5. The Blind Banker

As I said, they're ALL great. But an order there must be.

    Or must there? :p

Oh I enjoy The Blind Banker, but this was a whole different league of brilliance IMO.

I do have one criticism, though. :p (but it's to do with the photography)

During the climactic rooftop scene, the light levels kept alternating. Sometimes bright sunshine, sometimes muted by cloud cover. And when the sunshine was strong I thought there was far too much blue sky for such a dramatic and frequent change to occur.

I liked that. It formed a halo round Sherlock when talking about angels. Very good direction

A halo may have been a nice touch, but there's no way the cloud cover and light levels would've changed as dramatically as they did during Moriarty and Sherlock's encounter.

I don't know. The weather had some pretty dramatic turns where I live last year.

Dramatic licence. You just can't bloody please some people.

How does dramatic licence apply to anything other than your halo? I'm talking about the variations within the whole scene and I fail to see how that has anything to do with dramatic licence.

Fair enough. Didnt bother me, and I expect that is how it was on the day. One half of the sky a different colour.

Oh, sure. The scene must have taken a day or two to shoot. I just assumed there were ways to compensate for varying light levels in post. :p

EDIT: To clarify, bother is a little strong... as this is literally my only problem with the episode.

Anyway having now seen more of Scott's Moriarty, I'm bowled over. I thought he was magnificent.

Just wish he didn't sound so much like Graham Norton!
