Gatiss tweeted that series three was commissioned at the same time as series two... so that's all nice and safe. I suppose it's just a case of how long we'll have to wait now that BC and MF are megastars.

A very fine episode, shame to see Moriarty disposed of so soon.

I assumed Sherlock would pull an Irene Adler and appear to die when in fact he had not, I only hope that this Return of Sherlock is not as largely disappointing as the books heralding the return of the great detective were (although that was because the author was sick of him, obviously the show writers are not).

I look forward to the next series, although I can't help wondering where they can go from here that would be better. The best foe for Sherlock has been defeated, what more is there to do?

I'd be amazed if Moriarty was dead.

Have the Master possess his body and go toe to toe with Matt Smith's Doctor. [face_whistling] [face_alien_1]

Hey Moffatt runs both shoes. It's not a completely far - fetched crossover.

    Very nice. :)

But I can't help but wonder when we'll see series three. Or if it's stuck with only three episodes.

Excellent, excellent episode. My favorite thusfar. But two things:

    1) Did they ever explain the significane of IOU? I'm still lost on that

    2) How did he survive that fall? For a minute I was actually completely convinced that he was actually dead, unlike in a Game of Shadows in which I was absolutely positive that he was still alive.

Regarding (2), I imagine the answer will involve a) the body that was hanging at his flat, b) his homeless network, and c) his coroner non-girlfriend.

There are, I believe, two popular theories:

    1.
Body swap. Either Sherlock dressed Moriarty's body in his coat (which is highly implausible, since Moriarty is much shorter than him, plus he looks completely different), or (more likely) there was another body from the Barts morgue (hence Molly's help) that was set up to look like Sherlock.

    2.
Sherlock actually did fall from the roof (after all, John could see him talking on the phone on the roof, moving his arms, etc.). However, John didn't actually see him land - and the biker ran into him on purpose to disorient him. Theory is that all the passers-by who saw the "body" were in on it - Sherlock fell and landed on a trampoline or mattress or whatever; and while John was trying to regain his balance and orientation, the "onlookers" removed the mattress/whatever from underneath Sherlock and arranged the blood. Notice that woman trying to prevent John from taking Sherlock's pulse. After all, there were no wounds or bruising on Sherlock's face as he watched John leave the cemetery...

But it's hard to say, really.

Jonathan Creek would have solved it instantly.

Now there's a crossover I'd like to see!

Those beautiful, terrible bastards. They did it again. Now I have to wait a year. AGAIN.

Oh well. Anyway, best episode yet...I have a hard time believing that Moriarty is dead...I WAS JUST BEGINNING TO ADORE HIM!

I saw the cliffhanger coming...but still. Damn them.

So I'm thinking maybe a combination of the homeless network and a corpse that looked incredibly like Sherlock...

although this does solve the problem of his increasing fame.

How awesome is this show? Really?

    Order:

    The Reichenbach Fall
    The Hound of the Baskerville
    A Study in Pink
    The Great Game
    A Scandal in Belgravia
    The Blind Banker

But they're all great, as it's been agreed upon.

And seriously? This is the guy who wrote The Blind Banker and Curse of the Black Spot?

This is exactly my order of the episodes. But yeah, even The Blind Banker is a great piece of television when compared to the non-Sherlock stuff...

I don't know if it's on Netflix, but it should be on the BBC iPlayer - and if it doesn't work, you can just torrent it and make it up morally by buying a DVD later, which is what I do. :p

Yes but before the details were sketchy. This just goes to show how facepalm worthy this project is going to be.

Don't they show this version over there? Why must the US constantly remake every decent show we or others send over there (they remade Danish series The Killing too)? Just let people appreciate our stuff. We don't remake The Wire or Mad Men we just watch and appreciate it as it is.

BBC have commissioned a new series. The second series had problems with filming - one of the principal shooting days was during the riots and Martin Freeman had to go and shoot The Hobbit, so the new series might just be a year, rather than 18 months like last series.

Me too. But am still inclined to think - as they warn - that the explanation could well be something completely unexpected.

(oh yeah, I just realised the significance of Moriarty's ringtone... Stayin' Alive. :p )
