I worry that there may be some actors who are driven by an unhealthy need for attention

How can you attack something that's non-existent?

Tomorrow we'll find out his retirement announcement was cribbed from Chester Brown.

I'm sure he'll come out of retirement just to star in Indy 5, just for you :p

Many of you are being a bit too cavalier about this, especially considering the recent losses to the industry. Amanda Bynes has not yet been cleared for work, and Josh Hartnett is still missing.

*snort* I believe it like I believe Justin Beiber's faux retirement twitter messages.

He said he's "retiring" from "public life." Whatever the hell that means, it probably doesn't mean he's quitting acting even if he does go through with his promise. He can't plagiarize things while acting (and I'm sure he's tried).

    some possibilities:

    1. he's legit insane (lots of evidence for this)

    2. having recently worked with von trier, he's pulling a von trier (maybe serious)

    3. he's pulling a joaquin (ie. not serious)

    4. he's butthurt and is bringing much drama (probably this)

    5. he's a whombie (combination whale/zombie)

He'll be back. If my time in retail taught me anything, it's that they always come back.

One could argue that acting is simply plagiarizing the script. Unless he improvised all those "No"s

Shouldn't this thread have some sort of tribute or career retrospective of some kind? Maybe a poem written in between the lyrics of Memories by Elvis Presley?

(words & music by bill strange - scott davis)
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine

He was in I, Robot in case you forgot, and so was he in The Greatest Game Ever Played, whereby to the detriment of most fans he proved he was here to stay, or at least so we thought--silly us. He also starred in Constantine where his character bit the dust.

    Quiet thought come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
    Sweet memories

Later he starred in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull wherein he played the infamous Mutt, leaving fans everywhere, scratching their heads, and going what?

Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilight trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you

Unable to silence his critics he still pushed on ahead with films like Eagle Eye, Transformers and Wall Street no matter what anyone said. It was during this time that he ditched the big-budget production for films like Lawless, Nymphomaniac and Fury citing his reason being he did not like the big-budget studios corruption. Only out for the money were they, but not he as he decided to kick start the downward swing of his career trajectory with plagiary. Thus the montage has reached its' climax, with Shia bailing out before he got axed, a smidgeon of his integrity in check, it's off with that royal pain in the neck. Now let us leave off with the words of Elvis the Great, as Shia exits stage left, his last act as a celebrity being theft.

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine,
    Memories, memories, sweet memories

We watch him go, L.A.'s gift to us, returned...gift-wrapped and with a bow. California you sent him our way first, now reap what you sow. ;)
