ST Ships / Vehicles/ Tech of TFA

A capital ship is a ship from which orders are given.

 

Orders to who?

 

In real world terms, a capital ship is an aircraft carrier. Battle ships were capital ships too, but they don't exist anymore.

Basically a ship that serves as the head of a battle group etc. a destroyer is not a capital ship, it would be a frigate.

Not only does it look menacing, not only is a lot bigger than an Imperial Star Destroyer (its length is 7,200 m), but it's said to be fast. Remember when the heroes had to outrun Imperial-class Star Destroyers in the OT? They might not get away so quickly or easily with a Bellator on their tail...

Yes, an armed military starship of over 100 metres in length - but I would have imagined much more heavily armed and the Tantive IV is not military.

Plus, since a Star Destroyer and a Mon Cal cruiser are capital ships, I would not have imagined a capital ship needs to be huge.

We'd better get a space battle even bigger than the one in RotS.

Probably some new models of existing ships, plus a couple of completely new ones.

 

well i see nothing onsite about ships in general of the ot...but since a super star destroyer and han solo flying it is a capital ship..i guess its here...
could someone rename this thread to Ships of the ST so we can discuss design and ships and flying craft of the ST?

Sure... there's really no need to keep this limited to just the capital ships. Updated the title.

 

Not to steal your thunder, I am just glad someone else has mentioned this, purely for my own nostalgia I also mentioned on another thread that I wanted to see these ships from this line of Kenner toys that were made up. They can be easter eggs in the back ground or a wreckage in Watto's junk yard for all I care.

 

An OT Star Destroyer needs to be seen at least once. New Star Destroyer variants would be awesome as well!

 

whats that from? i see its a toy and some off appearances...im not actually sure what it actually flies in..is this a land craft or a short range space craft? Its definetly of imperial design.

Seriously though, I always thought Padme's little ship was gorgeous. Maybe Leia will have her own little diplomatic version of that. Like Air Force One, if she's the leader of the government.

 

Wow. Kenner really didn't have a lot of respect for kids. Slap on some wings on to a AT-ST head and the kids won't know the difference.

 

Well since I can't say Normandy SR-2 or Reapers, I'll say I want as many Mon Cal ships as possible. They look awesome.

 

What do fans need with a starship?

 

Foss has been keeping busy with Guardians of the Galaxy, if I'm not mistaken. But I agree that he deserves more love.
