Agree 100%. I hope the same applies to the Rebel ships.

 

The OT pulled this off, to a degree, as well. in ESB we were introduced to TIE Bombers, and in ROTJ introduced to Rebel cruisers (were any at the end of ESB? can't remember), TIE interceptors, A and B wings.

 

I want a ship that pays homage to the Satellite of Love.

 

So you want all the mustangs, cobras, camaros, torinos, roadrunners, caminos, to disappear and show prius, camry, lexus, toyota, honda, ford, tesla instead.....naw...thats not my flavor. I'll take my star destroyer, walker, tie, xwing, falcon any day of the week and stick with those hunks of junks instead.

 

Even Mustangs and Camaros evolve and get better with each generation.

 

Clearly, you have forgotten what Mustangs looked like in the late 70s and 80s.

 

My thoughts on this interesting subject:

We've seen the the X-wings and TIE fighter "stock" versions are very similar to the ones in the OT. The X-wing has engines that are shaped differently, and they have two split vice four individual wings. It's a smarter design. The TIE fighters, at least the two we saw, look pretty much identical to the hundreds we saw in the OT.

If the trailer is what JJ and the gang are going for then most ships, especially the mass-produced ones, should like what we saw in the OT.

 

Well at least both sound the same the sound effects of the weapons I know the tie fighters fired a few shots but still sound great none the less.

I have to say I literally got goosebumps when I saw and heard the X-wings when they were flying over water. The TIE fighters were awesome as well, but the X-wings are what kicked my optimism about these new movies up to a whole 'nuther level

 

Hey I rather like some of the old fox body 'stangs.

 

I got the same feeling we saw them in action in space mostly but see they them on a ground mission was cool. The tie fighter/xwing fight for fighter superiority will continue.

 

Hey man, according to you Boba Fett is overrated because he stood around looking cool without actually doing much. Isn't the Executor pretty much the starship equivalent, also getting knocked out by a lucky punch?

 

That would be a SUPER awesome comparison if folks were pouring unearned hype and praise on the ship or if we had Executor fan clubs or giant debates on whether the Executor survived or not. 2 of us commenting on the fact that the ship is giant doesn't really count as hype, does it? Because it was factually a very large ship and not false awesomeness manufactured by fans.

There isn't one already? Blasphemy!

 

It needs to be much, much bigger than any of the regular Star Destroyer fan clubs.

 

Factually much bigger though. Not "Oh, it looks like a big club, it must be MUCH BIGGER than any of the other clubs!"

 

That would be great, you could have like 100 people standing in a row to do Executor cosplay!
