That shuttle looks really good. But I wonder why the only time we have seen it with non vertical wings is the teaser, where they were a little more open. Nor this poster, nor any other pics show the ship with open wings. Not even the toys feature the option of moving the wings.

 

I wonder why the ship appears black for some toys and for others it appears gray.

 

Well the lego sets are all based on limited photos that the lego crew are given to work with, so maybe they were just given a promotional render like this one and told to have at it? The die-cast stuff doesn't have any moving parts either, AFAIK.

Maybe this is just meant to be it's 'iconic' configuration like how you never see promotional shots of x-wings with their wings closed together.

I love these new evil looking starships.

 

Kylo's shuttle is one of my favorite vehicles in the saga. Like some of the best Star Wars machines (the AT-AT, for example), it hints at something without being it. The shuttle has the essence of a giant bat, but of course doesn't look like a bat. Just like the AT-AT has the essence of an elephant (they make me think of Hannibal's elephants in the Alps), without actually looking like an elephant. And, they just look cool.

ETA: But yeah. Is it black or gray?

 

I understand that Kylo Ren's shuttle is likely the contemporary version of the Tyderium, but I do miss that ship. It is one of my all-time favs.

Perhaps some sort of cloaking capability that changes its color on screen?

 

i think there's just more than one. there seems to be black, white and grey.

 

That shuttle is awesome, but the wings make me wonder "why?".

1. I bet we get a M-wing starfighter-bomber serving the New Galactic Republic.
2. In the background of Episode VII we see what I think is a new AT-AT design that has a mechanical elephant trunk-like head.
3. We'll see New Galactic Republic capital ships that are NOT Mon Calamari 'flying mechanical pickles'. Perhaps instead rebooted versions of the Endurance Class Fleet Carrier and Nebula Class Star Destroyer from the old EU? But more likely something not seen before.
4. Chancellor Lando Calirissian's presidential shuttle and new escort starfighters too.
5. Vehicles exclusive to the Knights of Ren.
6. Combat waterspeeders (surface and sub versions).
7. Mortis Monument 'Space Station'
8. New generation Mandalorian vehicles
9. T-70 Mark 2 X-wing starfighter
10. First Order Special Ops TIE Interceptor
11. Carrier for Snoke's non-humanoid body
12. Vehicles used by Snoke's species

...I hope we get some neat speeders, bikes, and some great new Resistance/New Republic ships.

 

May be Leia uses the old Tyderium as her personal transport, hopefully we'll get the next generation of Y-Wings and B-Wings too.

 

Stupid question:

On wookiepedia, when it says Legends in an article, that can mean that only parts of it are, right? The reason i ask is because I've been nosing around there looking up all kinds of starfighters hoping that future SW movies might make use of some of them. The Preybird suddenly sprang to mind (not that i particularly fancy it), then i checked the Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft. Both listed as "Legends".

 

There is more starfighter variety in this gif than in all of The Force Awakens. That bothers me a little. X-Wings against TIEs is just a tad too vanilla and dumbed down for the general public.

 

Well, didn't we see a Lego set of a resistance fighter somewhat similar to the B-wing? Was that legit?

 

Ah, i hadn't seen this. If this is indeed legit then I'm a happy camper.

 

I would love to see that on film if it is legit.

 

I hope we get lots of NEW ships in Episodes 8 and 9 instead of X-Wings and TIE Fighters.

 

Legends is the old pre-disney EU, so that is totally non-canon. You can switch between canon and legends versions for stuff that appeared in the new canon as well. Of course wookiepedia is lazy so the canon articles on OT and TCW stuff are pretty short and lacking in detail.

 

I just wanted to post this here because i didnt see it mentioned. I see a lot of toy versions and concept art pictures posted of Kylo Rens ship but i didnt see anyone mention that its in the trailer so here it is. I really LOVE this ship so much. the thing that comes to mind is the being like the Cadilaac version of the Tie Fighter. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the wings fold inward so when the wings are down it almost looks like a stealth bomber. you can see the wings coming in while its landing so it will look really cool when the wings are down kind of like a stealth bomber...

 

looks like a next gen tie bomber to me.

 

I think that it is an early concept of Kylo's shuttle.
