    Title: Shmi's Gift: A Parting
    Author: oldjedinurse
    Timeframe: TPM
    Characters: Shmi Skywalker
    Genre: Angst
    Keywords: Shmi, Anakin, Qui-Gon

Disclaimer: George Lucas owns everything Star Wars. A stellar group of authors own the many characters brought to life in books full of SW stories. I am merely playing in a park dedicated to the Lucas Empire. I own nothing and receive no tangible reward from this.

A tentative foray into poetry... [face_blush]

    Shmi?s Gift: A Parting

    Silhouette in a midday?s radiance
A halo forms bright ?round serenity
From his spirit shines patience and wisdom
Mine but offers a last aching hope
Yes I?ll give him my past ? my son.

He is strong and yet gentle and kind
Had I chosen your father, perhaps
I would linger in groundless illusion
But instead I remember our life
Holding close what is real, for my son.

A new road stretches out to the infinite
In between the way fades into darkness
But the light in your eyes wins me over
And the light in his eyes gives me courage
To set free your spirit, my son.

One last dawn, as I study you closely
We hold to each other no longer
    You entered my life unexpected
You leave through the same greater plan
Walk away in his path, my son.

You turn back to pledge me your bravery
    With liquid eyes tenderly searching
I find that you look on me sadly
I find one last smile to surrender
But hold back my tears for you, son.

My joy and my life and my heart
All my days I will seek out your presence
When in darkness our home is too still
When your voice does not rise with the light
Hear my soul?s endless cries for a son.

    ...lovely imagery too!
Thank you so much! Of course, there's quite a bit of Qui-Gon in that imagery...
