Man, we need news . . .
Is it too much to ask for a lightsaber duel in front of icelandic geysers?
That would be fun.
So much for Disney's so-called "original story."
Oh geez. C'mon.
Great. You win. Since you have been warned in multiple forums over the past several weeks about actively provoking other users I have little choice but to remind you to stop trolling our boards, looking for opportunities to stir up drama, or we can debate who has a higher intellect from the geographical location known as the Unban Request forum. At this point, all you seem interested in contributing are unnecessary arguments and derailed threads. Congrats on winning a semantics-based debate about Tunisia's relationship to California. Now, discuss the topic or I'll help you log off.
Speaking of Iceland, wasn't there a rumor of a character named Bjork (or maybe it was Bjonk) in TPM?
Gee-there's a connection and we didn't even know it!
The dark side is strong in this forums.
That looks like Norway rather than Iceland to me.
But it's called ICEland!!! And they are shooting in a land full of ICE!!!
I'm looking at some of these landscape images and I'm thinking that Iceland could be just as important to at least Episode VII as the landscape of New Zealand was to filming LOTR.
I don't think it's Hoth I mean isn't Ice Land green and Green Land is ice?
Thought Ice Land had all types of weird hot springs and mud pits that sort of look like a alien world.
It really does look like something out of an old fable, doesn't it. I'd love for a 1/3 of the film to be centered here.
Man. I really want to go there some day.
This thread delivers. It's like Groundhog Day all over again in each post.
Btw, are there groundhogs in Iceland?
Just as an entertaining aside: Iceland and Greenland aren't the only two phenomena that should switch names:
-Driveways are where people park and parkways are where people drive
-Cars take shipments and ships take cargo
-There are two public Junior High Schools in Manchester, NH: Parkside, which is by a hill, and Hillside, which is by a park.
-And if we take nicknames of the last two Star Wars Episode Subtitles, "Empire" prominently features the head Jedi, and "Jedi" prominently features the head Imperial
Ok, continue on...
And let's not forget that before being assassinated, Lincoln was in Monroe, Maryland, while Kennedy was in Marilyn Monroe...wait, that doesn't work...
Anyway, I was thinking that maybe one of the reasons "the green country of Iceland" was chosen was for its aurora borealis, which would give it an otherworldly look. But then again, I suppose that's something that could always be added in with CGI later.
My guess is with a previous post, that in addition to the beautiful green landscapes and striking topography, it's probably cheaper to film there and such...money is always a big incentive to everything.
I don't know if it's cheaper to film in Iceland. While I'm sure Iceland is providing incentives for them to do any work there, according to this list, http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/rankings_by_country.jsp (which I won't claim to be completely scientific) it's more expensive to live in Iceland then in the US or the UK.
Expensive to live and expensive to film are two very different things. As you say, some countries provide incentives to film there which make a big difference in production costs.
I was just making a joke

No need for special effects with the incredible natural effects.
Here's some more for you guys:
Getting a Dathomir/Nightsister vibe from those pictures.
Wow, I never knew how beautiful Iceland is. It should make for one gorgeous planet. Can't wait to see it.
It would be obscene if they found one, brief location they were interested in shooting... after we sift through all of these gorgeous pics of the potential available in Iceland, the scene(s) will only take advantage of a patch of grass or a visually interesting wall or some other such wonderfully ironic scenarios.
