Any Melbournites (yeah it's lame, what ya gunna do?;|) tell me where some good places to buy Star Wars stuff are? I am coming down in a few months, have never been there before so being specific would help. I'm mainly after book and comic type places. Any help would be great.

    Greetings Smashalot,

I suggest you take a llok at the thread on Star Wars Collectables.

It has a list f all the good shops around Melbourne.

    When are you coming down?

Perhaps we could meet for coffee?

The main shops I go to for Star Wars stuff are:

    Minotaur
    Slow Glass Books
    Borders (Chapel Street and Chadstone)
    Kmart
    Toys R Us

Theres a good place on Chapel Street called Just Collectables. It's near the intersection of Chapel and High St. There's also a Comics R Us on Chapel St as well, They're a little bit more pricey, but they have a wider selection of action figures and that kind of stuff.

    no no no.

You need to go to a collectables fair at one of the town halls and get in contact with a few collectors. there's heaps of stalls selling star wars merchandise, there's competition for prices and stall owners often (not always) have lower overheads than store owners so they often sell for less. I know a few collectors who won't rip you off. I've been buying and trading with these guys for years.

Thankyou, the collectors market sounds like a great idea, but unfortunately i will only have a few hours on a saturday. I am flying down for the wrestling in august and time is of short supply.

If there are any Sci-Fi type book shops or good comic shops, directions to those would be fantastic. Thanks. Oh and lordvaderFF coffee sounds great, but maybe next time.

There is a great shop in Brunswick called Imperial Grounds. Its on the corner of Sydney road and Albion street. It is a shop specifically for Star Wars. The people there are great, its cheap and has a good range of stuff.

Excellent kitey, that sounds like what I am after. Is it fairly central in Melbourne or is it out in a suburb somewhere?

The 'stuff' is all still there.

They've just had to close the upstairs section, so all the stuff that was there had to be fitted in to the main downstairs section.

    :)
