Beyond - Legends short Action Story

Hal looked down from space in his new Mon Clamari Cruiser, the Destiny. It was a fine ship, 150 turbolasers, 2,155 meters long, 20 tracter beam projectors, 75 proton torpedo lanchers and state of the art shielding; it was a masterpiece. It?s sister ship, the Mediator was on the front lines of the New Republic-Yuuzhang Vong war, and had sustained heavy damage in it?s last battle.
Hal was a Jedi, one of the few that liked to pilot big bulky capital ships. Most Jedi preferred the speed and maneuverability of a starfighter. Hal was the only Jedi who was in command of a capital ship. The governmental council had tried to keep the Mon Calamari from making the ship for Hal, but with what Hal had sacrificed for the New Republic government, they couldn?t turn him down. Hal was getting a new ship because his positively ancient MC80 Mon Calamari cruiser got blown to bits by the Yuuzhan Vong?s raid on Kashyyyk.
The numbers of the Jedi had been about halved through the second Yuuzhan Vong War, there were only about 70 left, and they were barely able to get away from the Jedi Slayers. After the Yuuzhang Vong had taken Teyr they had begun to search for Fondor, in an attempt to whipe out the local Jedi enclave there, which had at least two dozen fully trained Jedi Knights and many more students. Hal intended to make his ship the base for these Jedi Knights, once Teyr had been attacked and destroyed, because Hal knew it was only a matter of time.
He made the jump to Fondor.

?Destiny, you are clear to join the fleet,?came the signal from the Resistance, the third biggest ship in the New Republic?s Arsenal. The Resistance was at least twice the size of Hal?s Cruiser, and would be heading the defense on Teyr.
The fleet stayed in orbit for two days, then the report came of the attack on Thyferra. That meant that the Yuuzhang Vong would be able to find Fondor?s location much easier. The Vong had a system of finding planets, they had creatures that could detect a gravity well from very long distances, but it only gave vague area of where the source might be, so the Vong would need at least two planets to find the a system that a planet was in, and now that Thyferra was taken, the Yuuzhang Vong would find the planet in a matter of days, at that point, they started evacuating Fondor, and boarding the ships in the fleet as refuge for the up coming battle.
The fleet included five other Mon Calamari Cruisers which were all MC90s and two Imperial II class Star destroyers, a formiddable fleet, but only about half the size of the one that defended Thyferra, which was very discouraging, considering Thyferra had fallen.
?All ships, I?m reading a fleet coming our way, sector G9,? came a report from the Gladius an MC90. And so it began.
At least three thousand coralskippers were on radar, and about ten Vong Cruisers.
?This is going to be a masacre,? Hal thought. ?All hands on deck! Ready the guns and Torpedo launchers! Fighters away, form up with the other cruisers? fighter sqadrons. Turn her around, I want her straight with the enemy.? Hal ordered command after command after command. He wanted to be able to take as many Cruisers down as fast as possible, than deal with the fighters. And then he saw it, the Worldship, and it was going to go for the Resistance.
?Get ready, mingle in one hour...?
Hal saw the rapidly advancing fighters coming up to enguage. The first five minutes were pure chaos, heavy losses on both sides of the field. The Resistance was dishing it out to all who dared oppose it with the to star destroyers covering its rear, and the MC90s were holding their own against the onslaught of coralskippers. His ship had lost two X-wings, three A-wings, two E-wings and a B-wing. Then the Yuuzhang Vong Cruisers came.
One of the MC90s exploded in the group of five; with each of them covering each other, as soon as one went the pentagon was broken, coralskippers immediately swarmed the hole in defenses. Three ships escaped in a group, but the other was being attacked mercillessly. Hal knew
