Should Beckham be taken to the World Cup?

I have to admit I thought he'd name Neville as captain....

 

Well, I'm not saying Owen is a bad player but, he's too young and too susceptible to injury.

IMO you need a captain you can rely on to go the distance.

mind you, it's only for one game according to Sven.

 

Wasn't Shearer (another striker)Captain of England (or am I just muddling England with Newcastle?)

Yes, Shearer was captain. But I always thought, surely he has to keep turning round to give orders?

 

I personally think England need someone from the Roy Keane mould... Shearer was a fairly pap captain in my opinion...

 

I agree with you Sam, I thought G Neville should have got the captaincy. Still it'll be good to see how Owen leads England tomorrow. I'm sure the experience will do him the world of good and he needs a confidence boost... a hatrick will do nicely.
