By crack I mean crack cocaine.
I say my body, my rights.
Further proof that conservative thought lacks nuance.
yeah but people on crack tend to **** other peoples' **** up on the regular.
Now you're just trying to be controversial for its own sake.
No, it shouldn't be legal. There is not nor should there be a right to be a moron or a drug addict, and there is no right for legal cartels (corporations) to profit off its legality. But minor possession shouldn't carry a criminal penalty. And longer sentences for it vs. the powdered form of cocaine are classist and racist.
Who decides who is and who is not a moron?
I thought that was the Church's job.
Hey OZK how much do you actually know about crack in RL? Have you ever done it? More than once?
I am of the "all drugs should be legal with the possible exceptions of crack and heroin" crowd.
So my answer to this binary poll is...a very tentative "no".
I thought this topic was going to be about low-hanging pants.
I saw this topic and my fic minded brain thought you were talking about Crack!fic.
OZK it's touching that you want to make life easier for Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes, but... really?
Should OZK threads asking if something should be legal be legal?
Not only should it be legal, it should be freely available to anyone who wants it. There should be free crack at every corner drugstore in America.
This thread should be aborted.
This. I'm normally all in favor of allowing adults to put whatever intoxicating substances in their bodies they want, but I draw the line at a substance that one, addicts people at first use, and two, makes them go ape****.
No jail time for nonviolent offenses though.
as of this thread i evidently still have a pretty good track record for judging these things
Not only should it be legal, it should be sold in bulk at costco
I'm mostly in agreement, though I fall more towards a tentative "yes" with heavy regulation. From a practical standpoint, making something illegal does not take away the supply and demand of the product nor does it eliminate evil corporations from profiting off the demand signal. All it does it make the sale and purchasing of the product more dangerous and put the end users (largely) into an overwhelmed legal justice system that disproportionately incarcerates the poor. Given that, I'm prone to think that legalization of all drugs with heavy regulation on the purchase and distribution of narcotics would be wiser choice.
This thread should be snipped.
I agree though I don't think making something legal has to be about 'rights' or anything. 'All things considered is legalizing this a good idea' is a good enough rubric for me. That said, I'm guessing that it isn't and allowing people to profit off of something so unredeemingly destructive is kind of perverse.
I think this thread subconsciously inspired me to post my butt wiping thread. I really do.
