PT Should I watch the Clone Wars series?

Six seasons (or was it 5?) seems like a bit of work to get through, especially when the concept of the clone army was never something I loved. I have read that the Clone Wars series is awesome though. I really enjoyed the cartoon Clone Wars despite not loving the idea of clones vs. robots. I love Obi-Wan and a lot of locales introduced in the prequel films so getting to see more of the SW universe and Obi-Wan in action is something that sounds appealing to me.

Do you think it's something worth watching?

 

Yes. It gets better as it goes too and really starts to roll around third and fourth season. First two are good too but it takes a bit for liftoff.

I really like the Mandalorian arc in Season Two(?)

 

DO IT. It's goofy, and occasionally ridiculous, but it's very good fun and I liked it a LOT more than I thought I would (and I say this as someone who is staunchly in favor of more Obi-Wan under virtually all circumstances, for what it's worth). Some people end up iffy/unhappy with the series overall, but I feel like many (most? That's a dangerous word) people at least enjoy it in part or liked it a lot, and there's only one way to find out for sure what camp you'll fall into.

Tip: if you go for it, stick it out past the first season, because it picks up after that, especially in seasons 4 - 6. There is a giant thread on TCW in the Star Wars TV section here that, in the last few pages, talks about what order to watch/which arcs people like the best and that might be of interest to you to dig around in, too.

I am embarrassed at how much I like that arc. I hate/love when Star Wars makes me love something that is kinda ridiculous.

 

Watch both series, 2003 micro series was sooooo GOAT and TCW gets really good imo from S3 onwards.

The Mortis Arc and Umbra Arcs were my my favs, so much awesome in those. I know some dislike the Morris arcs but I loved bad Anakin. Haha.

Was the Umbra arc the one with Krell?

 

Yes indeed. It was cool to see a war arc with both sides using organic soldiers. Plus, Umbara was an eerie place. Those centipede things were freaky. Seemed like a Vietnam allegory tbh.

 

Yes that was one of my favorite arcs too. Well done. Liked the aliens, the planet, the characters and story.

 

God help me, I kinda love the Mortis arc. It is so overwrought and insane.

 

The Umbara Arc was my favorite, too. It was a great episode. Great dialogue, great themes, and some of the best action shots we've gotten in the saga period. If there's one arc I'd suggest from TCW, it's Umbara.

 

It's a must watch. It doesn't start off strong right away, however it gets better and better. Some of the arcs are the best Star Wars has to offer. It actually gets surprisingly dark at times. People dismiss it as a kid's show or simply watch a few episodes in Season 1 and drop it. This is a huge mistake.

I would just watch the entire series. Sure, not everything is great but remember it can be subjective. I'm almost caught up with the Rebels series and I'm surprised at the amount of connections between the two series. Clone Wars is an essential prequel to watching Rebels in my book.
