Yep, that was before TPM even came out. So the double bladed lightsaber was actually EU in origin.
I'd be more interested in seeing someone wield two sabers at once for a longer period of time than Anakin did in AOTC. If they do have a double bladed saber I hope it's going up against someone with two blades. I just want some creativity and not a rerun of a two on one like we had in TPM (which was, of course, awesome).
A Jedi or evil user fighting with 2 lightsabers is a must. It must be for the whole fight and not for a couple seconds
Already seen that several times in TCW. That's ventress's choice of weapons (2 red lightsabers), Palpatine used 2 just in the latest episode. Obiwan even used 2 at the same time, in the 1st episode of season 5 of TCW. Ahsoka wields 2 blades (though unlike Ventress, its 1 normal lightsaber and a shoto, a smaller lightsaber, Yoda had one).
And yes, TCW has shown someone with a double bladed lightsaber, go up against two blades.
And it has created some AWESOME DUELS.
In fact some of the duels in TCW are better (imo) then some of the duels in the saga.
I know we've seen a lot of two sabers action going on in TCW, but we need some of that in the movies, more than the 30 seconds of Anakin and Dooku in AOTC. In fact, I wouldn't mind a ST character who always usually uses two. And maybe they can combine them into a double sided saber...
There should be a Sith lord who has lightsabers on their feet.
What's been done, should not be re-done.
By that logic, there should have been no lightsabers, no Force, no Empire, no Luke, no anything in any products released after ANH.
Pretty sure most people understood what I was getting at. Since we're talking about double light sabre's, and not the entire star wars universe. Of course, feel free to twist my words around however you want
Call me old fashioned but I just want regular light sabers with nothing fancy.
I always thought double-bladed lightsabers were as impractical as AT-ATs. I agree with Seagoat. More two-saber fighting.
What's impractical about AT-ATs?
They are slow and lumbering. One would think fighters would be a faster, cheaper and more flexible way to go
Someone using dual-lightsabers for an extended period of time?.....
Grevious had lots and lots of lightsabers, but it sure didn't help him. To quote Mike Nelson on the Rifftrax commentary for ROTS: "No, he was taught in the arts of sucking and losing."
Grievous was ill-conceived from the very start. He shouldn't be used as the barometer for anything. He's the Jar-Jar of villains.
Put me +1 for someone permanently wielding two sabres. Maybe make each the length of a short sword.
Maybe have a Sith lord wielding two double bladed lightsabers making it the shortest lightsaber duel in the SW saga since they would accidently cut themselves to ribbons.
The double-bladed lightsaber was the worst gimmick ever devised for Star Wars. Sure, Darth Maul looked awesome with it, but showing the double blades in the trailer and not making it a big reveal in the film was a huge mistake, IMO. Since then everyone and their uncle has put double-bladed lightsabers in their FanFilm so it feels completely overused.
One blade, weilded by an awesome Jedi.
wouldn't mind seeing one of those black lightsaber/knife things the death watch and eventually maul has been using in the clone wars or something similar
He'll cut himself to ribbons if he's not careful!
how about a lightwhip?
I don't think that there should be yet another Jedi/Sith wielding a double-bladed lightsaber in the ST.
That would take away from Darth Maul's uniqueness, as little as it is.
