I find that most "old" fans feel harrassed, or that their discussions are derailed, but mostly, they are more fans of the films than the EU. It isn't a EU bashing thing. (I feel the PT forums are mainly a bashers forum now with off topic threads that primarily favor LOTR, the Matrix, etc, and are not really SW movie dicussions.)

It's just a different atmosphere, and the communication is a bit different. I know many "older" fans that feel uncomfortable at times because we don't seem to fit in. Many have left these forums all together, which is a shame because this is the biggest forum on the net, and I think there should be room for everyone, but that doesn't seem to be the case....

If you are over 25 and know what I'm talking about about, please post your feelings on the matter. We could call it older fans, or mature fans, or fuddy duddies, or something like that. :)

    I disagree.

There is no need to have an over-25 section, and it would be impossible to verify someone's age over the internet.

Of course, I'm probably just saying this because I'm not 25.

    I agree on this.

We older generation fans need a place to discuss things, without the younglings derailing the topics.

There's nothing I like more than sweeping generalizations. [face_plain]

"Sweeping generalization" is correct. Idiocy doesn't own a calendar.

Isn't 25 a little too high of an age limit?

Plus, YodaJeff is right. There is no way to verify someone's age.

How in the world could you possibly verify this? And age doesn't equate with maturity.

Correct. I know 16 year-olds that are more mature than most 25 year-olds.

it has nothing to do with maturity.

do you really think a 35 yr old man wants to talk about the ever concerning problems of a 16 yr old kid?

    I know I dont!

Do you hear that type of discussion in the movie forums?

    Check this out.

    edit:
do you really think a 35 yr old man wants to talk about the ever concerning problems of a 16 yr old kid?

And do you think I care about the problems of a 35 yr old man? No. If a thread doesn't interest you (i.e. Oh my god I'm 16 and I can drive yay! or something about girlfriend troubles), don't read it.

I've always thought that the great thing about Internet messageboards like these is that it actually allows one to level with people of all ages, something they're a lot less likely to do out in the world.

There is a Geriatric Ward. What exactly is the problem here again?

I'll agree to bring this up in the AC on the condition that Katya_Jade and I get to moderate it.

Oh, and 25-year-olds are much too immature for me.

You can't even verify male/female on here, much less age.

Do you need an entire forum? There's already a thread specifically for this. (see previous post.)

I always thought the JC should have a PG-13 forum or a "flame forum".
Then I realized, the JC already has such a board... only it's over at Episode-X and it's called the "Anarchy Forum". ;)

I disagree. Why do you have to be 25? What happens if you are 24 and 364 days old?

If you exclude everyone under 25 then you will have a very small forum one that will miss out on much of the brillant stuff that the people who you will be excluding can come up with.

Not only that but (as people mentioned before) your idea has so far not mentioned how you will overcome the bigger problems of how you are going to stop people under 25 from getting in, or even how you will verify their age.
