Discussion Should there be Clone Troopers in Star Wars episode VII

only if there are real actors in armor, not computerized and fake looking

 

My feeling is that what was the army of the Rebel Alliance will, post-RoTJ, have become the Republic's new army, perhaps absorbing remnants of the Imperial Army that didn't have an ideological objection to joining.

 

Stormtroopers, IMO, will re-appear as old reminants of the old Empire.

The new republic will not resort to cloning or use stormtroopers.

 

It does not mean the remnants of the empire have not tryed too!!!!

 

The plot of VII will actually revolve around a new threat:

Clown Troopers

 

There's no reason why there would be clones in the movie. It wouldn't make any sense.

 

I read in a comic book a while ago on the EU, that Boba Fett apparently found or made clones of himself and he confronted Han Solo with a Fett army, only to then let him live, and it turned out that Fett had never intended to kill Solo, just to test these clones...

 

Also (if going by the EU details) a soldier named Baron Fel was cloned...and I'm not too sure as to what happened to those soldiers. Maybe they'd be a new group of clone troopers?

The New Republic army will be comprised entirely of ewoks, since those little bastards seem to be unbeatable and blaster-proof.

 

Interesting question.

Storm Troopers are iconic for SW and for them to completely disappear may make the movie feel "unStarWars" if there are lots of battles.

Then again it could usher in a fresh development regarding who is fighting large scale battles in SW.

I think the idea of Battle Droids has been superceeded. I remember when TPM came out and found out Droids would be fighting in large scale battles and thinking it would look great. So many films now have Droids so it is no longer visually stunning.

So who will be the main participants in SW battles is intriguing. Anyone have any sensible alternatives to Storm Troopers and Droids?

 

Also, their cuteness gives them the element of surprise, as no enemies suspect them.. they don't realize the ass-kicking wild beasts that the ewoks really are until it's too late.

No. There won't be a Clone Army of the New Republic. It's not their style. More than likely their army will be made up of regular recruits.

I think we will see them though. But as old vets or even descendants of Clone troopers that may have survived or deserted. Like that Clone Trooper in that one episode w the Twilek wife n kids.

 

No for me, other than the ones a possible Imperial remnants faction might have as their remaining storm troopers.

I would be fine with the Imperials continuing to abuse cloning tech but I think it's something the new Republic should drop altogether.

I would expect the NR to use a volunteer army (and I would expect the volunteers to include Ewoks).
I can't say whether or not the volunteers should and/or will include clones.

Uhh if there were real Actors playing Clones, then how can they be Clones? Clones look alike so Morrison should come back if Clones come back in the ST

God no. What a horrible Idea. Disney is just getting this bucket of bolts put back together and you want to go tearing it all apart again.​

 

Sure there should be clones. They worked so well for the dumb Jedi the first time.

I would not even like to see many stormtroopers, unless they have a purpose to the plot.
