Well, at least I found the thread the "old timmers" post on!!!!
So it seems the consensus is that the trophy point system needs reevaluating via user suggestions and/or polling. Especially with how it relates to the number of posts, stars, years registered, etc.
And possibly the title system since certain users don't identify with jedi this or jedi that, but then again this is The Jedi Council Forums.
Perhaps we could go to a new ranking system....."God" "Demi - God", "Pay Attention to this Person" and "Ignore" The last ranking to be reserved for Supershadow only)
I'd prefer something more along the lines of starwars myself, such as a choice between Jedi rankings (current), sith rankings, bounty hunter rankings, mandalorian rankings, sw politician rankings, etc.
There could also be an alignment (light, dark, neutral) option that changes the color below the avatar once you reach the second tier of rankings.
I like the second option... that might be interesting.
The first one, at that point it would probably be more efficient to just let users enter a custom title after the set amount of posts.
I'm not sure how the whole process works, however.
Exactly, so either it stays as it is (jedi rankings) or it is open to users. I'm fine with either one...
The original idea behind me posting this thread was to see if other people thought there should be trophy points for number of years registered. Given the current trophy point system it seems like from what most people in this thread say, there should be trophy points for years registered, though it is still unclear exactly how to go about it.
I would also like to see a more elaborate trophy system that is based on something other than post count... that's what stars are for, right? Having "hidden" or "secret" trophies would really make things interesting.
I really like the idea of hidden trophies.
I think it would be great to get trophies for all the years you've been registered here. It's a sign of seniority and something to be proud of!
Well, it seems that now we get trophy points for the number of years registered.
you shouldn't be rewarded because someone happened to register in 1998,
what is the reward? "congratulations for having the internet much earlier than everyone else" ?
I registered in 2004 and do not feel any more important than anyone else on this forum.
Nor am I in awe when I see a very old member.
It's fun when you go up in rank but it is largely meaningless. Internet rankings are not a validation of worth. It's just a fun little thing, nothing more.
well I'm on the minority on this, so my opinion is mute.
Not a fan of the trophy thing regardless anyway.
I don't think it means much one way or the other, so I am neither a fan nor am I opposed.
I honestly don't pay attention to this Xenforo feature.
GGreivous if I was in the habit of liking posts,
I'd like your post
I can see what you are saying Sistros, but I must say that I really like seeing my "oldness" recognized. Certainly not as a way of looking down on or excluding others, but as a marker to let me know that my time spent here is being rewarded.
well as someone who registered 2 years after you, I say I don't particularly care about being recognised
if I did I'd still be using that account, but to each his own.
I'd rather be recognised for what I do for the boards making it an enjoyable place.
Weel, I'd say you make the boards an enjoyable place already. I just like being lazy.
There's actually a thread about this?
Yes, I started it because I wanted to know if other ppl thought there should be trophy points for years registered, and now we have them.
Still no CUTs?
So this is why I turned into a Force Ghost overnight. My first thought was that my account had died, somehow ...
Comms is a sad, sad shell of what it used to be.
It is certainly not like the good old days when a group of visionaries successfully used Comms to change the world...
