Should we try to follow the new suggested moderator promotion guidelines?

Sad but not altogether unexpected.

I really don't understand it sometimes. Comms is just loaded with complaints against the mods from users who feel alienated, and now when a Mod tries to make a HUGE step in the right direction (By letting the users influence who gets moved into a power position) it gets shot down.

I don't see why they're so affraid to try the new way.

Just put the new mod on a probationary period and see how they go.

If they're not quite up to it then try someone else.

Lets be honest, it's not an easy job,often getting abused, and not all people will want it even if offered. [face_shocked]

We also need someone who is going to be online when the other Mods are getting all of their beauty sleep.
and lets face it, thats a hell of alot of sleep needed.

On a related note, Oakessteves_cat is a leading contender for the position of moderator in the Phantom Menace forum, with a sizable fraction of the vote. I?m not sure whether to be more worried or amused.

 

So let me get this straight... you can tell us scary names from OTHER forums but not the scary names from OUR forum...

I really like the idea of the "citizens" taking part by way of a vote to see who governs them...
