OK, this is great. I bought a LOT of fabric to make some Luke Skywalker type hooded capes. It was 60 inches wide, but it shrank to 50 inches.

I found a way to get a semi-circle with a diameter of 120", but would a cape made in pieces still look good?

And is there a way to prevent shrinking by the way?

    Thanks,

    Stephan

Always find out what kind of fabric your using before washing it.

    Cotton will shrink alot.

In the future if you don't want something to shrink get it drycleaned. However then it may shrink slightly and even ironing it with a steam setting may do a bit of damage there....

And as for the cape... you can go and buy a bunch more of that fabric and turn your circle cape into a gored cape, which means just dividing up the circle pieces (remember to add on seam allowance) into sections that fit along the grain of the fabric. You might even be able to make a fuller cape too.
