Sifo-Dyas is a fictional character in the Star Wars saga, created for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Sifo-Dyas was a Master in the Jedi Order who was killed shortly after the Battle of Naboo. The Kaminoan prime minister Lama Su informed Obi-Wan Kenobi that Sifo-Dyas had placed an order for the clone army on Kamino, at the request of the Senate in order to defend the Galactic Republic. The Jedi Council was not aware of the order until Kenobi informed them of it after he met with the Kaminoans.

According to the novel Labyrinth of Evil, Sifo-Dyas was a friend of Jedi Master Dooku, who shared his belief that the Jedi Order was not what it once was and that it shamed itself by serving a corrupt Senate. Dooku, upon beginning his training as Sith Lord Darth Tyranus, was told by his master Darth Sidious that Dyas had placed the order for the Clone Army in secret. Dooku was ordered to murder him and erase Kamino from the Jedi Archives before permanently leaving the Jedi Order. Dooku later presented Sifo-Dyas' lightsaber to General Grievous as a gift.

Three official books (Revenge of the Sith picture/storybook, Revenge of the Sith Scrapbook, and Galactic Crisis) have revealed that it was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine who secretly sent Sifo-Dyas to Kamino, to place an order for the clone army. The Official Starwars.com Databank also states that Palpatine, who was in truth Darth Sidious, had masterminded the Clone Wars from its very inception, having arranged the clone army's creation through the "dead-end front" of Sifo-Dyas.

After Sifo-Dyas' murder, Dooku was assigned by his dark master to take over the project that Sifo-Dyas had left. It was Dooku who chose bounty hunter Jango Fett as the template for the clone army. When Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Kamino, the Kaminoans told him that Sifo-Dyas had ordered the clones, but when Obi-Wan had asked Fett about Sifo-Dyas, the bounty hunter reacted suspiciously: in the Mandalorian language, he told his clone 'son' Boba to close the bedroom door where Jango's armor was hidden, then proceeded to claim that he had never heard of Sifo-Dyas, insisting that he was hired by "a man called Tyranus." Tyranus, as is revealed later, is the Sith name of Count Dooku. How much Fett knew about the Sith plot remains a mystery; he was killed shortly after the meeting.

The truth of Sith involvement in the clone order was obviously marked through the Order 66, which the clones were trained to obey without question.

Eventually revealed and used at the behest of the Galactic Republic, this army was later turned against the guardians of peace and justice as the Galactic Empire was created.

Sifo-Dyas was known as Sido-Dyas in early scripts for Attack of the Clones, where it was intended to be a cover name for Darth Sidious, as neither Obi-Wan, nor the Jedi Council recognized the name in earlier drafts.

In Star Wars: Visionaries ( a non-canon work), Sifo-Dyas is shown to be a caucasian man with a small, brown goatee. Also in Visionaries, it is learned that Sifo-Dyas's blood was used in General Grievous's blood transfusion.
