I have started a petition on the change.org. Here is the petition below:

    Mr. Lucas & Copyright Holders,

Currently as Star Wars fans we only have two options to watch the original trilogy pre-special edition. Laserdisc & VHS! Now that it's 2013 the technology is dated and we want to see Star Wars as we remember it as kids in HD.

Star Wars is a cultural icon that permanently changed the landscape of cinema, both in the US and abroad. It has earned its place not only in film history, but in the home video library of any film fan.
There has been much debate regarding the digital enhancements made to the original Star Wars films, beginning in 1997 with the release of the Special Edition. The debate was reignited in 2004 with the release of the DVD box set and culminated with the release of the 2006 limited edition DVDs, which contained substandard transfers from 1993 as bonus material. The purpose of this petition is not to debate copyright holders' rights; legally, you have every right to make alterations to your films. We do believe, however, that as the steward of one of the most recognizable and beloved film series of all time, you have a responsibility to restore and preserve Star Wars in its original form, unaltered, and make it accessible to fans in the quality of the current DVD & Bluray releases.

Assuming adequate source materials do exist, our goal is to convince you that providing home video releases of the original theatrical cuts.

We understand that the finished results of the trilogy may not of been the vision of George Lucas, but its what fans grew to love for 20 years before the 1997 re-releases. In mutual respect from the fans to George, Star Wars merchandise and waiting in line for every release of Star Wars we deserve to have this for our home theater enjoyment.

Without George there would be no Star Wars, without fans there wouldn't be a franchise.
May The Force Be With You

    Sincerely,
    Han Solo

    P.S. I shot first!
