Signatopia FF-UK Trip

OK, I'm bringing this up again for everyone.

Steven has contacted me to let me know that he would like to include FF-UK in the SFX advert that is coming for the Signatopia event. I would be unwilling to have our logo and name associated with this event unless we are going to be making a specific appearance there.

Originally, Steven (Ashen31) was working with TheDarthVader, but we haven't heard anything from him for some time. As such, I am trying to chase down several things:

1) Who is going to be attending the event?
2) Who would be willing to man a table at the event for a couple of hours at a time?
3) Who will be attending in costume?
4) Who is willing to take part in a roleplay type event at Signatopia for the entertainment of the fans?

The event takes place over the weekend of 27th/28th August 2005 in Rotherham.

So, if there is anyone definitely making the trip for this event, please let me know on this thread or via PM. We have an opportunity here to get ourselves seen in the SFX magazine, and also to have a presence at the first ever Signatopia convention, something which may give us good standing in the future.

What I would say is don't but tickets just yet, as I may try to get a deal for you all.

Don't buy tickets yet????????????? already done it. Going on Saturday but I only have a standard ticket, Couldn't afford Gold or silver but if manning the stand will get me in earlier then cool.

 

Depends on what happens with memorabilia and how many other midlanders are going.....

Not sure on this now. I think that was if you went in costume and took part in the roleplay concept. However, since we aren't predominantly a costuming group, I don't see that we can furnish that request successfully.

However, for those that take part in the table part of it, I'll find out what the deal is, if any.

Id be quite happy to man a table for a few hours, have done it before

Yes this is the main reason id go, as before there was benefits for this.

It depends on the role play. Ive done this before too.

I hope the offer for cosplayers to geta good deal for attending is still there.

 

Hi...thought I better lend a hand here to clear the air

Hopefully it would of been great to put on some type of roleplay and TheDarth was well up for this but hey..one step at a time as he's dissapeared off the face of the planet. anybody willing to arrive in costume and do SOMETHING (Maybe escorting the guests in the opening ceremony etc) please PM me and I will see what list we have and the possibilities.

Anyone who does I will discount tickets significantly.

As for the table, you just need to decide on HOW MANY people you are going to have running it. Personally I would say 4 max so two can wander and enjoy but that's your call. Let me know your thoughts and I will arrange something for those doing that. PLUS THE TABLE WILL BE FREE and I will hang your banner (New Logo).

The advert for the Special SFX (Doctor Who special) has to be in 9am tomorrow so added text to say 'The Fan Force' would be present. If you don't want this then please could you tell me first thing if poss. The next advert will go in SFX next issue so if you are still planning on coming then I will include your logo and much more of an advert.

I have the venue and drive to make this into something SPECIAL and hope to knock on a few Lucas doors to make them look at the support in the UK Star Wars has...but I need that support to do it.

On a more positive note...There will be BUNGEE JUMPING also at the event and Alan Ruscoe and Mercedes Ngoh have put there names down to jump, so that should be fun + Something very unique in the way we collect autographs (Will keep ya posted)

Been talking to the main guys at Signatopia and man this event looks like its knocks socks of any other con ive been to. They really are pulling out all the stops for this.

If they can get a big Fanforce presence Lucas himself may take a serious look and endorse the event. Imagine what that could bring to this UK event!

ive taken a look at the pics of the venue...my god it really could come straight out of a SW set!

Darthlordrichie...how far is far...ill be travelling from Cardiff!i drove from London to Glasgow last weekend and realised the US lot do thatdistance of travelling all the time. its not that bad!! and it'll be so worth it. The more of us support this the better its going to get!

 

I am very tempted to go to this...And I think from the FFUK:M point of view, I think we need to make our presence known. I need to figure out how I'm getting up there. If it looks like we're going for the weekend I might see if I can kip on my mates floor as he lives in Rotherham.

Ok, I looked at the signatopia site and im really tempted to go now could be a great experience before going away to university. Plus i don't mind travelling, I'm doing that for the memorabillia event anyway

OK, re-work of plans. I have volunteered myself and veritasuk as the main table watchers, since it was veritas's recommendation to get one at this event. What I would like is a list of 3-4 others that would be prepared to attend the table for periods of time. If you can only come on one day, let me know.

All responses should be via PM to myself. Once I have selected those that will help cover the table, I will make an announcement on this thread and then pass their names to Ashen31. Please note, that I would still like everyone who can attend to drop by the table at somepoint to say hi, get photos taken etc, etc. We should have a sample of the t-shirts at the event as well, so you can have a look at what's available.
