Just finished the belt for my son's sith costume, well almost finished;). I started with a wide black leather belt with grain texture from Wally world. I picked up some stirup straps (I had to dye these black), machine screws, and metal ring from our local Tractor Supply. Its amazing where you find things!

The stirup straps are smooth and I think they contrast nicely against the main belts grain. I used screw back spike rivets (I got these off eBay) to hold the ring and align the secondary belt. I purchased machine screws that were slightly longer than those supplied with the rivets because the stirup strap made the belt too thick.

I still need to get a piece of black pleather and velcro to cover the buckle in the back. I also need to add the d-clip for his light saber (style 6 from BYB). I plan to mount it on the back side of the belt using the existing spike rivets.

My son loves it! Now to do my daughters[face_thinking].

    What do ya' think?

    Thanks!

Once he saw the belt, my son asked for pouches and food capsules[face_shhh].

Nice work. I like the things I've seen you make so far. =D= Like your lightsabers.

I decided to make a Sith belt for myself last year. I thought it would be cool if I used 2 narrow straps and criss-crossed them a few times around the wide belt. It turned out to be more complicated to put together than I thought it would be. I had to plan it out very carefully, working from the center outward, using brass paper fasteners as temporary rivets to hold it together while I punched all the holes for the rivets and studs.

I don't ever want to make another belt like that again! (I don't even let people ask me to make them one! :p)

If you don't mind a little thread hijacking, I'll post a few grainy pics from my webcam here. [face_blush]

That's ^ a skull peeking out from between the 2 narrow straps.
I put a rivet through both straps where ever they crossed:

Then I had to make a custom pouch that would fit between two sets of the spike studs. ;) It has snaps on the bottom of the belt loops so I didn't have to try sliding it over the spikes.

The_Phantom_Menace and Jedi-Loreen, thank you so much for the kind words. These are my first attempts and I look forward to eveyones comments!

Having 2 kids gives me ample test subjects;) to try new ideas! This forum is awesome and inspiring=D=!

Jedi-Loreen, your Sith belt is fantastic! I don't dare show my son the pics, especially the one with the skull! He would place that on my to do list!

    Heh, yeah, kids.

    Thanks for the compliments. :)

Now I just have to work on the rest of the costume. It's only in the concept phase just yet. Or should I say still.
    :p
