Does anyone know who makes movie quality Sith & jedi robes? I went to the Mystikmerchant site, but it appears to be down.

So, does anyone know who else makes them?

    Thanks

Try the Rebel Legion or Jedi Assembly web fora. People there would have tried out different merchants and know who's reliable or there might be tall people getting rid of their old robes.

FYI: spring is a good time to look for a robe to be made. Woolly fabrics are more likely to be on sale since the fabric places will want to get rid of it to make room for lighter fabrics.

I can't help you with finding someone who will make it, but if you have basic sewing skills (can use a machine and scissors, basically) there's a good pattern that you can size up to make one that will fit you. It's very easy to make. I just started sewing this summer, and used it. I had no problems with it.

(I mention this because you said you're pretty tall, and you might have trouble finding someone who will make one to fit you in a reasonable price range)

I wonder if we should make this a part of the Tutorial List? It looks very helpful and I do think the TL should be updated again, as some of the links don't work anymore.

Are there any Templates for such robes? I mean like on paper to cut 'em out and then so learn how big each piece of cloth should be.

You know, I would go hit up a fabric store and find a pattern for hooded cloaks/capes. They are going to be a good start.

Simplicity has a line called "Wisdom Seekers" ( I think it is called ) for costuming patterns. I think that would be a good start.

Here are a couple of Simplicity patterns to check out:
    Simplicity # 5840
    Simplicity # 9847

That should give you a good head start.

There's a good tutorial over on www.thepadawansguide.com telling how to modify a cape pattern to make a Jedi cloak.

I'm actually the model in the auction. Eva has 30 years experience as a fashion designer and has industrial machines. She custom-makes great movie-quality jedi stuff for current and potential Rebel Legion/Jedi Assembly members.

    Check out her ebay store:

I have used this site to make my robes. That and HD movie scenes, and the reference pic that so many have out there.
I did start with the Simplicity robe costumes that I believe are discontinued and totally modified them.

Also, I have found that Fall and Winter are the best times to seek out robe fabric as there is better selection.

    check out my pics below
