There are many establishments in that neighborhood. I'm sure we can find something that suits us just fine AND still maintain our stellar reputation.

Irish Pubs are very much fun.

But so are Hard Rock Cafe's...as I sometimes join in with the Staff on the singing and dancing.

Wendy and Jeff can attest to that. :p

Figures J_Sat would take this thread way off topic again!!

But if you are looking for a cheap dinner and show, just take J_Sat to the closest Hard Rock Cafe! Well the dinner isn't that cheap, but the show is free! [face_laugh]

The Irish pub they speak of is "Ireland's Four Courts" and is great. They also have very good food, too. I used to work in the building directly behind it, so I know it fairly well. Out of all the restaurants in that part of Courthouse, that was my favorite one to frequent. Not sure if I can make the book signing, but it sounds like it will be a blast! (Better than the Ann Crispin one I went to back in the late '90s out in Annapolis.)

The planetarium idea sounds cool. I just got the original version (Han shoots first) of the original trilogy on DVD (copied onto DVD-R from the '93 laserdisc release) and was blown away to watch it on my 65" widescreen. I can only imagine how it would look in such a setting. Maybe a viewing of some of the films (or even some of the great fanfilms like "Broken Allegiance" and "KnightQuest") would be in order for such an event?

J_Sat did you just say I can't hang!?!

I can hang, even if I don't sign songs from Grease outloud I can hang. I just can't hang that weekend. :p

You are correct Hanjones that is the Irish pub I was talking about. I love the fish and chips there. Do you also live around that area? I am just up the road in the Ballston area.

Ah, the 4 Courts. I don't remember the food much, but the beverage is always first rate. And if anyone wants Vietnamese food, Queen Bee next door is great. If it's still there - I haven't been in ages.

I remember the time when I thought Zahn's books were the best... Then I read Shatterpoint. And the X-Wing books. Those are my favorites now. But the Zahn ones are still pretty good. ;) Don't think I'll go to the signing though... But who knows, I am one to change my mind.

I read the first 30 pages of Shatterpoint, but I could not get into it. I'll try to read it again someday.

*Sigh* We *USED* to have an Irish Pizza Pub over here in Laurel, MD....
until one night last year, when the most recent owner(s), who'd run the place into the ground and driven away most of its business...
decided to TORCH the place for the insurance money. :(
