I actually almost shot my eye out. But as an adult, not a kid.

I almost shot my friend's eye out in the 8th grade. We were futzing around with a BB gun, and the kid whose house we were at had just gotten a scope for it. I took aim at a plastic duck floating in the lake next to his house, shot it directly in the head... and the BB ricocheted back and whizzed right past my friend's face.

I deliberately shot my uncle in the ass with a BB gun when I was 9 or 10 (twas a large target), and he still tries to find payback every time I see him.

Well today was a big day of course.
I got to see the new Cloverfield movie.
    It was.... Eh.
Considering the previous two were pretty mind bending, this, well, I can see why it was dropped on Netflix rather than in cinemas.

Agreed. I thought it was... rather embarrassing personally. The final shot was laugh-out-loud-funny to me.

I thought it was ok. Nothing spectacular but not totally a waste.

What did you think of 10 Cloverfield Lane?

I thought 10 Cloverfield Lane was a pretty fantastic thriller. I'm entirely biased though. I'm a massive Mary Elizabeth Winstead fan, to the point I used to run a fan page for her, and even got to interact with her a few times. So my opinion on most things she does is skewed.

Yeah I'm a fan of hers too. I really enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane. I'm a huge John Goodman fan as well and he was simply terrific in that.

Agreed! I was really hoping he'd have gotten a supporting actor nom at the oscars that year. He was really great!

I watched Cloverfield Pardox last night. I though it was ok in that frustrating Cloverfield way.

Thought I'd watch a Lawrence Kasdan movie in honour of Solo.
Dreamcatcher. One of the handful he's directed.

It got ripped apart by critics when it was released because it's an insane jumble of Stand By Me, and people with psychic powers and horrible diseases and sinister military and the famous sh**weasels... the story is actually a pretty faithful reproduction of a big fat Stephen King novel. And they are generally insane messes.

    It's fun, but it's nuts.

From what I am seeing, it looks like Ron Howard had a fun time directing.

So glad it's Friday. I am counting the hours until I get out of work and can go pick up that Solo issue of EW.

I actually had no idea that Kasdan had directed a bunch of movies before someone pointed out similarites between the Solo trailers and one of his old films. Well received movies too. How embarassing.

Three years ago my mother went into a life threatening coma that she had managed to recover from. All the kind words people sent to me in that time meant the world to me during that time and to her once she came out of it I was able to tell her about those kind words. It was during that time she had been diagnosed with kidney failure and has in the three years since been a dialysis patient fighting to get a transplant but the road wasn't easy. Today I must share the unfortunate news she lost her battle early this morning. She had only turned 48 years old on Sunday the 11th. Honestly I'm just lost but I guess all I can ask is for you to keep my family and I in your thoughts during this difficult time of grieving.

I'm so sorry to hear that, man. I know how hard something like this can be, and my thoughts are with you and your family. And if you need someone to talk to or if you just need to get more off your chest, my PMs are always open.
