He had never heard such a load of horse manure out of someone so young before. Really, it didn?t surprise him, but as he listened to the young man lay out his plan to provide financial help for the farm, Jonathan couldn?t help but want to snort indignantly, put the brandy glass down, and walk out.

The thing that stopped him from doing so was the earnestness in Lex?s eyes. The young man really did want to help them? It wasn?t enough to make him want to accept said help, but with a hidden glare from Martha, he was willing to listen and ask questions. It was just so? bizarre.

He?d hated the Luthors ever since the meteor shower. Hated Lionel Luthor in particular for what he?d done, hated himself for being manipulated into something he should never have been manipulated into. For his part in letting someone so vile get a foothold on the community.

A noise sounded as the study door burst open, and Lex paused in laying out what he thought was a sound business plan to find Lana being helped into the room by Whitney, both of them clearly shaken up.

?Where?s Clark?? Martha breathed, echoing his thoughts as he stood there staring at Lana. She had a point? if Lana was here with Whitney, where was their son?

The interruption was welcome, though it heralded weirdness once more.
