Just read "My Dearest Ani" and "Letter to the Galaxy from Vader (sorry--don't remember the exact title)" and "What choice remains?"
All incredible! I hope I will have time to read more soon.
    Good job Rhonda and Traci!

No, I meant it was incredible that y'all spend time writing that tripe!

And the "Good job." was in the tone of voiced used by OB1 in the arena when Ani tells him they came to rescue him!

    ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

No, really. I was impressed. I am working on a Clone Wars story that I hope to finish over Christmas break. I may need some help on it.

Sure. I'm not sure I'd be much help with CW era, other than spelling/grammar-type stuff. Tim could probably help with story/characterization. Looking forward to reading it. :)

What I think I am going to need help with is dialogue. I think I have pretty good ideas story-wise, but I am a prose writer--personal essay is my forte, so I am pretty lost when it comes to dialogue.

Dialogue is my favorite thing to write. :)

(Although, a Luke/Anakin scene in "Circle of Light" is kicking my butt right now. [face_frustrated])

What is the difference between a vignette and a short story? How long does something have to be to be a novella--or is it a different kind of writing?

A vignette focuses on just one scene, and is generally quite short.

I would think a novella would be somewhere around the 150-200 page mark. Short for a novel, but longer than a short story.

I'd consider a short story anywhere between the two.

Wait until you see all of the fanfic writers out there who are working on their own trilogies on TF.N. You could swing a stick and not miss one, they're so plentiful. We're talking hundreds of pages worth of stuff.

I have never read a novella that was longer than 60 pages. I would say that most are between 20-30.

So, yours might be a novella. That is why I was wondering the difference between that and a short story.

My understanding is that a novella is a "short novel"... not sure if there are any length restrictions, etc.

A short story is: "A short piece of prose fiction, having few characters and aiming at unity of effect," according to dictionary.com.

Vignettes are a single scene or "one shots" in the fanfic world, dealing with a single scenario.

I've read a lot on the CW since most Anakin stories are of that era, so I can offer some help maybe. I know the background of the ARC troopers/clone commando types...so I know a little characterization.

They are "numbers" in their mind, weapons to be used - so to speak. The authors in the CW era books are slowly giving them more standout roles such as Alpha and Cody, two ARC troopers that reveal more "human" traits. Anakin names Alpha because he doesn't "have a name", the novels are starting to explore the "clones are human, too" vein, maybe setting up for the debate on Stormtroopers of the OT, who are clones also.

Another good source for clones are the Republic comics, especially #68 - Armor.
I focuses on "Bly" and how he views the Jedi Generals.

My nominations are already in. Not that I'm biased or anything....

    :p

And remember to use your main screen name when you nominate, and don't nominate again using a sock. Those fanfic folks take this stuff very seriously, and will have you banned for doing that.
