Ha ha, well Macho, it's not that effect that I was talking about that would be challenging, as that wouldn't be too difficult. What I mean is that after the TIEs wing was cut off, I would then have to do another shot of the TIE crashing into the ground and exploding...which would be the challanging part. I can't pull off just any effect within 3DS Max. I would actually have to film a live action explosion to composite with the CG scene.

you dont have to show it exploding just have the wing and and the main part go flying above the camera, the wing on the left the other part on the right

Well, wouldn't it be kind of a jip if you didn't see the TIE crash? Besides, in the shot my arms don't move to inicate that there is something being thrown into the air.

I would very much enjoy that Macho. Seeing as how we might work together in the industry one day.

If you wanted to do what Macho was suggesting, Why not have the Tie Spin off uncontrollably and stright into the camera's lense, and then just blackout...

Well I just thought it would be a fun trip through time to pull up one of the first CGI posts by our great friend and resident board legend Pixelmagic... take a bow Daniel Broadway.

Damn it, the link is not working.

But I remember seeing snow composite tests by PixelMagic before and they were great.

As fior the TIE crashing to the ground, you can do it at a close angle, so that when the TIE hits the ground, there is a huge cloud of snow that is sent up that covers the camera and prevents the audience from seeing most of the debris.
