ST Snoke Image Officially Released

Serkis said that he didn't know what his character would look like when he filmed his scenes. I think the final design was indeed pretty late in coming.

 

It was confirmed by the author of the Visual Dictionary that the reason Snoke wasn't featured within was that his look was finalised too late in production.

 

Oh, well that could be chalked up to secrecy as well. I think Serkis described it as that in an interview. That he didn't even know what it looked like. I thought the poster,Vorax, meant late as in late in post. There are many times a design hasn't been finalized for a CG character while the film is still shooting.

 

Well, he looks human to me, and I seen the movie six times...an ancient and deformed looking human, that is.

Are you sure the description wasn't just that, that he's described as a 3D image that was dark and appeared humanoid just so to throw the reader off so he doesn't know. It seemed like that's what they were trying for in the film, anyway.

This is another reason to think that the book isn't to be taken as proof as to what he is.

 

Well, he could be Lord Snoke. But no current sources other than his interview support that. And bay he said, 'Leader Snoke', as did Hux. The journalist got it weing. Doubt he'd get the size wrong.

 

The exact phrase in the novel:

the focus of the chamber was the blue-tinted holo of Supreme Leader Snoke. Tall and gaunt, he was humanoid but not human.

 

I think Pablo said something to that effect on his twitter.

 

Pablo's twitter apparently is not canon. That's why he should STOP explaining TFA stuff on twitter.

Huh. I just realized that it's not even technically "night" in terms of the passage of time after the Starkiller weapon is totally charged and therefore during the fight between Rey, Finn and Kylo.

 

Such a great shot. I don't really get the hate for the Snoke design to be honest.

But if his stuff on twitter is said to not be canon he is confusing fans by responding to their TFA related inquiries on twitter, evidenced by people coming here and saying Pablo said this. Pablo said that.

Well, Pablo also said not to consider what he says on twitter as canon.

I don't know what else to say. He should either refer twitter questions to established canon like his own Visual Dictionary or just refrain from talking about it on twitter. It's confusing people.

I agree with what you're saying, he's making statements directly affecting Canon, yet has a disclaimer to cover his a$$. I still don't want him to stop though.

 

Can't wait for some background on Snoke. Seeing his face in HD quality is interesting. I still think his CGI is very weak, and I can't forgive his generic design. At least all the scars contribute character, though. He looks pretty ancient. I prefer to think that he was alive and kicking during the PT, and maybe long before that (no, not Plagueis. Although I still think that would be cool).

 

Why didn't they just disguise his face in the hologram and saved his reveal for the next movies? That would have given them time to think through the final design... now we have to live with this boring generic look.

Unless the hologram is just a projection, but I doubt it.

 

Good point. We never saw the Emperor in ANH.

 

I am with you this. I'll be honest I was slightly underwhelmed as I was probably expecting too much but after several viewings I'm sold. I cannpt wait to see where we go with him. And yes...this is a very impressive shot indeed
