*cues BLIZZARD OF '04 music* School is cancelled, I've been out in the slush, life is good. Woohoo! Anyone else got the day off?
I got about 4 inches of snow at my house, and it is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't get off work. We were told to come in when we could...which really means "you'll look like a slacker if you don't come in." So here I am...at work. *sigh* I did take several pictures of the winter wonderland this morning. Perhaps I'll post them later tonight. This proves that contrary to popular belief, Atlanta doesn't COMPLETELY shut down for snow.
I went out and got some pictures this morning... too bad its all by the glow of the horrid orange streetlights And I'm glad everything doesn't completely ahut down, 'cause I want to rent a movie later!
Well, it was just a bit of a surprise that we got the snow in the first place. Apparently that cold air just rushed in all of a sudden and gave us the snow. This place looks awfully pretty in the snow. And we don't have that annoying problem of the grey and black snow like they do up North. We never get enough to have it around long enough to get dirty.
yeah, it was lovely (not!) I had to spend eight hours at work driving around in the wet-slushy weather.
Laugh it up, fuzzball. Okay, I don't actually know if your fuzzy or not, but I have never really had an excuse to use that quote.
You can call me fuzzy. That's ok. I keep thnking of the past 2 years when we were hit with very, very bad snow storms. Each storm hit quickly, and we were left cleaning up from the seven (yes 7) feet of snow that was dropped on us in a little over 24 hours. It shut us down for about a day, but it did't discourage us.
I only got an inch in Marietta, but it was fun letting my indoor cats outside into the snow. They freaked (I let them out at 3AM while it was still snowing)
Heh heh heh. It's kinda funny looking at this thread when it's 80 degrees out where I am (probably hotter where you guys are) but I've tried to drive in 2-4 inches of snow when the plows couldn't keep up with the storm. It IS something to worry about, most of the time, and we drive at about 20 mph when that happens. I remember my 30 minute commute took an hour and a half when we had 2 inches consistently on the road. Of course, it all melts by the afternoon in Atlanta, right? Oh, I'm going to LOVE moving there!
