Beyond - Legends So Happy Together L/M. New Post on June 28!

Genre: Banter/mush.

AN: Specifically in the form of all dialogue. Will be open-ended. The reader, hopefully, will be able to tell the context. And each person who reads can place this in Legends or not.

"I'm not sure, Mara. I haven't done this too many times before now. Not much opportunity during the Rebellion for such things, and with my students who had crushes, that was purely one-sided."

"Don't look at me. The only time(s) I ever embarked on such endeavors was strictly in the performance of duty."

"Spare me the gory details!"

"Hey, I'll have you know, I was very convincing!"

"That I don't doubt."

"It'll be OK. If Han survived his first date with your sister, I'm sure we'll make it."

"Hmmm?"

"Shall we do this again?"

"Well...."

"Yes?"

"I'm thinking."

"Mara."

"All right, if you insist."

"All right, I can comm you, or all right you'll give me a straight answer."

"Both."

Ever since ginchy wrote an all-dialogue L/M (I think it was Kiss and Tell) - I've been in love with the all-dialogue style.

And their snark lends itself to the style too

I loved how she said she used the Force to protect her feet as they danced. Well done. More??

 

You decided to go for the dialogues only, which is exiting to read. It is like following a tennis match, with the ball going forth and back between experienced players.

I love the format and the snark here. Will this continue? Pretty please?

 

The choice of just-dialogue here is great; I like how it leaves us to imagine a lot of what's going on while still showing how they feel at this point in time. For some reason, I pictured them barbecuing their meal in the backyard of somewhere, which is probably not the case, but it's an entertaining image.

"Is that a rhetorical question?"

"No."

"Guess I should've known that, coming from you. About nine months."

"Well, Mara. We could keep this up forever or take the next step."

"And what would that be?"

"Don't look at me like that! I'm not asking you to train or anything."

"Thank the Maker for small mercies."

"I'm suggesting I take a hiatus from the Academy. I suppose it won't fall apart without me and I would like to ... experience what it's like living the more or less spontaneous lifestyle of a Master trader."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, but only if you would want that too. I'm not interested in being in a relationship all by myself."

"Is that something on the lines of one hand clapping?"

"I believe so."

"Yes, I would like it - I think you and I would make a good team, Skywalker. I like the idea of teaching you."

[Laughter and kisses ensue.]

oooh, I like the idea of Luke being the one who gives up his life (for a while) to further their relationship! Although I wanted Mara to be a Jedi and it made sense in the context of what happens in Hand of Thrawn, the way Mara's lifestyle gets put to one side and she completely changes it to be with him always felt a bit... unequal when looked at from a particular perspective. Look forward to seeing how Luke copes with being on her territory!

 

I also love the idea of Luke kicking back and travelling with Mara and learning from her. Love the banter as usual!

"He has, since the beginning of me knowing him. Makes no difference, Luke."

"Why?"

"You want me to say it don't you?"

"Is it so hard?"

"No, just that ..."

"Mara, you're actually shy!"

"Shhh. Not so loud. Do you have to be so enthusiastic about it?"

"I haven't forgotten the original topic."

"Okay. Because I love you. Satisfied?"

"Yes! And now, was that so hard?"

"No."

"I love you too."

[Tackle-hugs and tickles ensue.]

They are wonderful together and I love the last lines of both sections 2 and 3; especially #2 with Mara being the teacher - where the mind wonders.....ahhhh.....yum.
