Absolutely. Besides, there are many different types of "intelligent", and only a few are tested by the VCE system.

Check the stats, my young friend. ;) Monash attracts vastly more lucrative grants for its biomedical research, and produces new papers and sets up new labs at a rate unmatched in Victoria. We are increasingly the hub of biomedical research not just in the state but at a national level: second only to ANU.

Home to the National Stem Cell Centre and the Synchrotron, and of course such minds as Alan Trounsen and James Whisttock, Monash is by far the greater School of Biomedical Science, and indeed, Medical Faculty; along the Alligned Health Sciences industry.

In fact, the only thing Melbourne IS a leader in - although its closing fast - is the courses slightly higher ENTER score, and that only by virtue of the Sandstone uni's vastly inflated view of its own importance, and the hitherto sight-unseen prestige school-leavers ephermally attach to such a placement.

Now stand back ma'am, and don't worry: I'm a Scientist!!!

    Strikes pose and vanishes

I also believe that by going to Melbourne you can enjoy a higher sense of intellectual superiority, warranted or not. :p

Yeah, you Melbourne snobs sure know how to lord it over people [face_talk_hand]

Then again, when communing with the hippies out at Latrobe, I do find that we can use that hatred of Melb Uni to kill the occassional animal to eat... :p

As far as I can see, the only real advantage of Melbourne Uni is that it has beautiful grounds. There are a lot of idiots that go there.
