JCC so... is anyone else here afraid of spiders?

this is a long time irrationally powerful fear of mine, but things like that tend to happen when you have the stupid things fall on your face in the middle of the night when you're eight. in my case it's one that never really went away. having been bitten by at least three black widows has done nothing to help this. i'm just very glad i'm not allergic to them.

so on the fun side of things, i literally JUST found two brown recluses in our bathroom. and now i'm on paranoia alert, and have doubts i'm going to sleep for possibly hours, if at all tonight.

yay for spiders...

 

Spiders are one of the main reasons you're not swimming in insects right now. Show a little respect.

I don't mind them outdoors. Inside is a different matter. If they are in then they are toast.

 

We can get frogs to eat insects. I like frogs. Frogs are adorable.

Spiders are horrible abominations of terror from the very deepest depths of the human psyche made real. Put here the purpose of instilling fear and horror into humanity for all time.

 

Spiders are wonderful creatures. Outside they do a fantastic ecological job, and inside... well... they are mostly out of place so I help them outside. There are a few completely harmless UK spiders that take up residence inside homes, but I don't see why they should be persecuted for that. Obviously I wouldn't want my home infested with them, but on the very rare occasion I see one I'll treat it with respect.

 

i suppose the spiders they have in china probably didn't help. you use a long stick to tap the wall, and depending on the kind it'll attack the stick. you kill those on sight, because they're fairly dangerous when they bite you. kinda hard to tell the difference between them and the skittish ones. they're big too. sometimes the size of a hand.

i agree, spiders outside are perfectly fine. i just don't want them inside where they can fall on me in my sleep or some such.

 

I could care less what spiders do for the food chain and pest control. We'll adapt and overcome. Kill all spiders!

Anything that requires more that 4 limbs and "skitters" is wrong

 

When you look at a spider, it's pretty obvious that they arrived here from outer space in some kind of meteorite spun entirely of spider silk.

 

We have flamethrowers. We'll burn them out.

 

I don't mind spiders too much, roaches creep my out. I would not go so far as to say I'm afraid of them, but they definitely creep me out

 

And why does every damned fantasy world have to have giant spiders? Tolkien, every d&d world, etc etc.

 

With the exception of poisonous spiders I can't understand why a human being, thousands of times the size of a spider, should be in the least bit bothered by them.

Why would a spider, thousands of times smaller than a human, be stupid enough to bite one.

 

Better that they fall on your face than crawl inside your ear and lay eggs.
