I still don't think it's going to cause any large outbreak outside sub-Saharan Africa. Every developed nation is hyper-alert now for travelers from the region. The problem is containment inside large African urban slums. I'm not sure how many new cases a week it would take to overwhelm all public health resources that the WHO, other foreign help from the likes of CDC and local officials could throw at the problem.

I don't know whether or not I should be bothered by the fact that this is the most measured look at the outbreak that I've read to date. Too many news outlets want this to be The Stand.

 

This isn't the first time it's been like this. Remember SARS? And swine flu? Heck, I'm pretty sure there was an ebola outbreak in the mid-nineties that was supposed to kill us all!
