Mace is dead. Face it. He's highly attuned to the Force but the fact that Palpatine not only hit him with the lightning, but lifted him up and knocked him out of the window and left him to drop.

Could Mace use the Force stop his fall? He would have to have great presence of mind to not only absorb the shock and hurt of the lightning, but also concentrate on saving himself.

Could the Emperor stop himself from falling when Vader through him down the shaft? No. Well, neither could Mace falling a 1000 stories down to his death.

 

Personally, I hope the EU doesn't touch him. Remember it's supposed to be dark times. If anything, why not write stories about Imperial heroes and their conquests, and then change the pace to rebel heroes and their vicories as ANH draws nearer.

Not true, Maul came back in some EU comic to fight Vader, and Boba Fett according to the EU didn't die, Palpatine came back in the EU too.
