    Maybe it wasn't Daredevil. I think it was Iron Fist. (Obsidian Sith not included)

    AND NOW, ADVERTISING

    As many of you know, I am a Shakespeare buff with a book in print to that effect, the beloved mashup "Two Gentlemen of Lebowski" -- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1451605811/adambertocci-20

    But before I mashed up "Two Gentlemen", I stayed up for "Twelfth Night".
    Yes folks, some years back I camped out in Central Park for entirely too many hours for Shakespeare in the Park tickets. I met a lot of really neat people, including pretty much my favorite person on the planet, Anne Hathaway.
    I wrote an essay, 5000 words or so, about my experience, and I recently took an opportunity to expand and revise it to stick in the Kindle Store, to help plug my print book.

    <IMG SRC="http://i.imgur.com/ApFoa.jpg">

    So if you'd like to read some of my beautiful ramblings about New York, high culture, low sleep and fandom taken to illogical extremes, why not buy my little travelogue for 99 cents on Kindle?

    Hey peoples! Self-promotion time!

    So my award-winning short romance "Ronan and Alyssa are about to break up." has a chance to be on PBS here in New York. But it needs your votes to make that happen!

    Can we scare up enough votes by Wednesday night to win? I think we can!

    http://www.thirteen.org/sites/reel13/category/vote/

    Watch the film and if you think it deserves a vote, go ahead and vote, yes sir yes sir! Thanks!

    And that was how Zeias became my favorite person ever. And look, we even did an episode about A.I.!

    What, I don't shamelessly pimp things.

    Oh God, this thread moves so slowly now that all my damn self-promotion runs together.

    Folks, I wrote a horror story. It's my first short story to receive any major plugging, and it's my first time tackling the horror genre. Of course, since I'm a mod, you're all familiar with my dark and nasty side [face_devil]

    It's a Kindle exclusive (for now), and it's FREE through this Friday night, so get to downloadin' before the price springs back to $1.99. And if you dig it, leave a review!

    <IMG SRC="http://i.imgur.com/iyrTa.jpg">

    When a tragic accident claims the life of a small-town cheerleader, a stunned community mourns a beautiful girl taken all too soon. Caught on the fringes is Wade Shaunson, a clean-cut kid still sorting through the rubble of a lost relationship with the dearly departed.

    Wade is haunted by visions of his brief affair with Kiki Malone. He looks back to the moment their eyes met, then ahead to the future they never built together; he even sees into her mind at the moment she died. But in every thought looms the specter of the night he broke her heart, and a sickening secret that would shatter his reputation.

    On the night of his sleepy town's biggest football throwdown of the fall, Wade confronts his guilt, his sins and so much more. There is blood, and a harrowing chill, and an eldritch force in the woods. Yet every shock and brutality pales next to what lurks in the soul of an American teenager.

    Award-winning writer and filmmaker Adam Bertocci has been praised by Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, The New Republic, GQ, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Back Stage, Broadway World, E!, Maxim, IGN, Film Threat and more. Now, in this rare short story, he tries his hand at the horror genre?with terrifying results.

    I did. To be honest, half the reason I embarked on this particular adventure was to do covers. They're fun to make. [face_blush]

    I am doing everything myself?the covers, the formatting, the marketing. I have put two short pieces on the Kindle so far, and I am learning a lot as I go. But it is great fun.

    :oops:

    I need to check in more around these parts. I need a browser window just for this, DIF, NP2k, etc.

    Btw, kindle is the place to be - I'm looking at a regular publishing routine up there with various bits of content. Anyone else done much with that platform?

    Wow! :eek: More primetime exposure for our little community on a full hour of 48Hrs/Mystery on CBS tonight. Once again featuring fanfilmmaker and forum member Mark Twitchell, the Canadian hoser/wannabe "Dexter" poser. And still more to come in an indy film production of the case. Twitchell will be serving a 25 years to life sentence.

    Man, I'd forgotten all about that guy. You should have seen the discussion we had in Mod Squad over whether or not that guy deserved a ban. :p

    I will now embarrass myself by self-promoting, again, on this page. I really wish you guys had gotten into a mean-spirited argument that took up a few pages so it doesn't look so bad. However, I have a [face_love] romantic comedy [face_love] to share with all you readers, and it's FREE for your Kindle through Friday!

    ===============

    <IMG SRC="http://i.imgur.com/7pHjF.jpg">

    There's plenty of romance in Margot's world. From her desk at a small publishing house, she creates the covers adorning an endless parade of paperback novels, with shirtless men holding glamorous women everywhere she looks.

    But love is not always dramatic, nor is it exclusive to candlelit castles and tide-swept beaches. Or so Margot finds out, one February night in New York, in a short (and sweet) story for the romantic in all of us.

Now his fancy turns to love, in a kindhearted comic fable celebrating life's possibilities and the human need for connection.

    So... The movie "Chronicle" appears to have the same basic plot as the Star Wars fan film "To Know a Jedi"... any plagiarism involved on the part of the makers of the movie Chronicle? Please discuss.

    I'd say no... I haven't sen Chronicle, but the idea of someone getting powers then being corrupted by them isn't entirely original. Does it have the main character have a falling out with his friends, go off on a retreat and get better aquainted with his powers, then come back and kill them all?

    Just about but not quite.

    Let's just say that it's similar enough to wonder if the person who "came up with the idea" of the movie Chronicle, actually got the idea for it from seeing "To Know a Jedi" and then changed it up to not only avoid infringing on any Lucasfilm copyrights but to make it somewhat more plausible, and be different enough from "To Know a Jedi" to not be an outright copy of it.

    Sorry for the run-on sentence.

    Just saw Chronicle. Came to see if anyone was around comparing it to "To Know a Jedi".

    Sure enough. I don't think allegations of plagiarism are really in order, but I'd love to ask the director if he saw TKAJ.
